Lami GSB 108 1M vs Lami GLB 108 MH

Some years ago I built a spinning rod on a Lami G1000 blank that's either a GSB 108 1M or a GLB 108 1MH. I don't have the records anymore, and I'd like to know which blank I used. Lami's rep told me it would be practically impossible to tell without flexing the two blanks together. I thought someone might know how much each or one of them would deflect with a given weight suspended from the tip. Any ideas? Thanks.

I also would appreciate it if someone would like to point out the general differences between the GLB and GSB blanks. Thanks again.

I've built both over the years. Personally the specs on both weight, diameters are the same. I don't know how the graphite can be rolled to be a different action and maintain the same weight and diameter? I used both blanks. Stiffer tip action and a strong mid section. I eeled with this rod GLB108MH for years. Supposedly the blank is sold as a live bait blank. I though also because it's classified as a live bait blank. The weight limit increase was because of the style of casting a bait(lob) compared to a lure (load& snap)hence the 1/2oz less weight limit of the GSB.I have a GLB108M & GSB1081L blank. I stressed the bothand they look the same? Who knows. Maybe someone has the skinny on this confusion!!

It wouldn't be the first time that a manufacturer sold the same blank in two different blanks series. The old Loomis SW 108-20 was the same blank as the SU 1084. One was in the "Salt Water" series and the other was in the "Surf" line.

At one major online vendor's website today, the Lami GSB 108 1M costs $22.00 more than the Lami GLB 108 1 MH.

Their house brand version, by Lami, with a lesser (one-year) limited warranty, is marked GSB 108 1M, and costs $45.05 less than the Lami GSB 108 1M, and $23.05 less than the Lami GLB 108 1MH.

Go figure.

Yes correct. The GLB is cheaper than the GSB. about $10.00

was a GLB 1201 ever produced? I like the glb 108 mh better than the gsb... its a bit less parabolic and seems to recover faster after casting... I like slightly faster action rods. wish there was a 10' glb

No. A 10' version was never made. The onfo I have read, some feel the GLB is more parabolic than the GSB. Me, I think they feel the same. Both tight up top.

could be the placebo effect! ahaha

I think they are the same blank.

In the absence of any evidence to the contrary, this explanation makes the most sense to me. Thanks.

They are in fact the same exact blank. Confirmed a few years back for me by Lami.

Bingo! That maks sense. Thanks!

They do differ in one important respect: they don't have the same price, so consider which one you'd rather buy.:biglaugh:

years ago when Todd Vivian was still at Lamiglas, he confirmed for me that they are the same blank.

A funny thing with blanks. Depending how you build them up you can get almost the same rod out of different blanks as far as cast an fight are consened. Some are so close that telling them apart is only in print an price. Marketing is a big gimick.
