Celtics vs Miami

Well we made it to the conference finals. Not bad for old men. With a rest we could be a little competitive but I got a feeling we get blown out in Miami Monday. Just one night off after such a tough series hurts us bad. Hard to hold a scoring machine like Miami down in points and we got no O. Lets hope someone gets hot each game. Stranger things have happen!

Go Celtics

HORRIBLE OFFICIATING IN THE FIRST HALF!!!!!

I guess Miami must have taken the refs out for beers this afternoon ! Calling the game like a bunch of drunks and totally one sided.

spence 05-28-2012 09:23 PM

That's a technical right there.

Yes - was pretty ugly.

MarshCappa 05-29-2012 09:58 AM

My guess this is going to 7 games and the last shot wins it.

Saltheart 05-29-2012 10:12 AM

Yes , definite T on me at halftime. As it turned out , we got beat so bad in the second half that the first half ref job meant nothing in the end.

So far it looks like 4 and out. :( We just have no consistant scoring punch. Ray can't even make free throws. Pierce is wearing himself out on D so no real O. Our bench totally sucks. We live or die with the starting 5 and they seem to be pretty exhausted.

Oh well , you never know what tomorrow will bring.

Go Celtics

Thats basically how I feel. I dont see them pulling this off. Garnett seems like the only one who can consistently score.

ProfessorM 05-29-2012 07:44 PM

Well that went pretty much how I expected, except for the stupid refs, which wasn't the reason they lost. Have some faith guys. They stunk last nite. I think 6 games and hope they at least make a series out of it. I am also glad the Spurs are looking pretty good too as I have been a closet Spurs fan since the Iceman, GG, played and I lived in SA for a year. Luv to see a Spurs Celts final.

Saltheart 05-30-2012 12:54 PM

We need to play well tonight. A loss in the opening game on the opponents court is actually expected so the loss in itself is no biggie. The issue is the way we lost. We got to get some points. Yes we need to stop easy layups by Miami but the bottom line is you can't win unless you can shoot it into the hole now and then.

If we get trounced again tonight it will break their spirits. Even if we lose on their home court we can still fight back as long as we have a good showing. If we get our butts kicked again then games 3 and 4 will likely be formalities.

We Got to SCORE...keep Lebron to 25..... and we got to get some rebounds.

Go Celtics

Gonna be tough to keep Lebron to 25 when breathing on him causes the refs to call a penalty. Same goes for scoring... when Lebron is allowed to reach over Rondo's back and smash into the body while tomahawking Rondo in the head - not much that can be done.

Jermaine Wiggans on the SportsHub put it best yesterday: "Lebron James is the NBA's princess in David Stern's kingdom."

Pete F. 05-30-2012 02:07 PM

Oughta be more like hockey, the higher they jump the harder they fall. Just one step under LeBron would send him tumbling, not a nice thing though.

Saltheart 05-30-2012 06:16 PM

I agree Lebron can do no wrong in the refs eyes. Its obvious the league wants to see Miami move on but its supposed to be a fair competition. If its going to be steered by the refs , why not just have the fans vote for who the champs should be. :)

spence 05-30-2012 07:14 PM

I don't get the argument that 5 technical fouls didn't have an impact on the game because they lost by more in the end.

That kind of officiating can have a big impact on team moral for both sides. Momentum is a big factor to manage.

Ridiculous call on Rondo and momentum shift follows...

Exactly. 5 Technicals might only be 10 points but then the Celtics have to walk on eggshells and completely doubt their actions because they don't know if looking at a ref the wrong way will bring out another T.

I mean seriously, "Come on Ed" is going to cause Doc to get tapped?

spence 05-30-2012 10:41 PM

More bad calls.

Slipknot 05-30-2012 10:53 PM

The C's should have won that game :wall:

and once again the refs blow a call in OT to give the heat the lead, momentum and the win

JohnnyD 05-31-2012 07:01 AM

That game just re-enforced why I don't usually watch basketball. I don't know how any intelligent person can torture themselves by watching this sham. Princess Lebron hasn't won his ring yet so King David is out to make sure he finally does.

With the Lakers and Celtics most likely in a rebuilding period the next couple years, Stern has to figure out something to draw in fans.

Saltheart 05-31-2012 07:41 AM

I thought we had it last night. They played a great game. If we can't win with Rondo getting 40 then I think our ship is sunk.

Lets see what happens on our home court. maybe at least we get an even chance from the refs.

Only thing I think they could have improved on yesterday would have been to get garnett more involved in the last 5 minutes.

I have to say that we got clobbered every time we drove the basket yet no call but Miami only needs to be touched (more like breathed on) to get a call.

JohnnyD 05-31-2012 08:08 AM

Don't worry, the refs will be in the Celtics favor while they are at home. The NBA certainly wouldn't allow a series between the Celtics and Heat to be over in only 4 or 5 games.

i dont agree - Rondo was drawing fouls all night

Saltheart 06-02-2012 11:21 AM

Oh Yeah!!! :)

They played good but IMO they played better wed. Good third quarter was a big turning point.

Amazing what a difference a few home court ref calls can make too.

Lets see what happens tomorrow.

Go Celtics

MarshCappa 06-04-2012 06:00 PM

Shaping up exactly how I thought. Last shot wins it. Who wins is 50/50 IMO.

Saltheart 06-04-2012 08:02 PM

Lets see what happens now that we are back playing in Miami and on the bad side of the ref calls.

We were that close to being ahead 3/1 in this series.

Go Celtics

Another gutsy game by our TEAM. 5 guys in double figures with the Truth burying a 3 in lbj's face. Doc is the standard to which other coaches aspire. Very enjoyable to watch this last push by the guys who can show what Celtic Pride means. KG....all heart!

There is a fine line between old and tired and experienced and crafty.
Miami learned that last night..

I hope its over tomorrow.

seriously, what a great game. Its amazing how those guys work together. I hope its over tomorrow too.

Saltheart 06-06-2012 10:22 AM

Last night was the type of game I expected to see the whole the whole series. relatively low scoring D battle then a scramble at the end.

Although they (Pierce and Rondo) sucked shooting most of the game , Pierce sank the big one and Ray also sank a big one when it counted. The near perfect shooting from the free throw line in the home stretch also kept us on top.

I also hope they close it out tomorrow because if it goes back to Miami we get the deadly ref job for sure.

Look for Miami to be breathing fire and farting lightning bolts tomorrow. We got to weather that early push and then do what we been doing.

Go Celtics
