This is a great laugh

I heard this on the radio this morning. In East Haven CT the feds bust some police officers for harrassing latino citizens, pretty serious offense. A reporter asks the mayor what he is planning to do for the latino community - the following is his response. This is really fantastic

"I MIGHT HAVE TACOS" - East Haven Mayor Joseph Maturo Jr. - YouTube

East Haven, Conn. (WTNH) - A group focused on racial injustice hand-delivered hundreds of tacos to East Haven Mayor Joseph Maturo's office Thursday.

The tacos, packed in several large disposable pans, were delivered a little after 1:30 p.m. News 8's Erin Cox says Mayor Maturo was not at Town Hall when the delivery was made. [Read his statement below]

TV camera up every politicians butt ignoring a year of good service but not missing a single moment of stupidity so they can increase their ratings. Our best and brightest say " I'm not going into politics where every time I fart its on TV". Only halfwits run for office. They say stupid things like this because they are halfwits , it gets on TV. Even the halfwits see it happen and say I'm staying out of politics , now the pea brains are the only ones who will run for office and we spiral down deeper and deeper.

This wasn't a "gottcha" moment like when Perry forgot the DOE in front of a large audience, under hot cameras in front of millions of views or when Obama mispoke on the # of states. A gottcha moment is when Backman thinks Concord NH is Concord MA.

This was a flippant response in the face of the FBI arresting four of his police
officers for beating and harassing Latino residents in his town.

He was just put into office a few weeks ago. He was mayor like 2 years ago when the investigation started. It has been a major issue in the town since then. He lost the prior election and the new mayor suspended the chief. When he was just re-elected, one of the 1st. things he did was reinstate the chief. Everyone viewed it as thumbing his nose at the FBI and the Latinos.

Don't forget, half of all people in the country have below-average intelligence.

If you polled the women in this country I bet 90% say they are married to them :hee:

Sea Dangles 01-30-2012 02:39 PM

Well, this dumbcock just resigned to "help the town heal."

PaulS 01-30-2012 03:58 PM

No, the police chief resigned - not the Mayor.

The Mayor got in trouble this week for appointing a guy from PR to some commission. When asked why he didn't appoint an Ecuadoran since 10% of the residents are Ecuadorian, he said

“I picked a Latino. If there was a certain type of Latino I should have picked, well let someone write it down on paper that this is exactly what I want. I want a 5 foot 2. I want a certain sex. You tell me what you guys want. You want me to order it?” Maturo said. “Nobody that I know of has gone outside the phrase ‘Latinos.’ Everything that’s been on TV and that has been brought to my attention has been the word ‘Latinos,’ which is inclusive. And not picking a certain part. I mean you want to pick … You’re boxing me in. If I had to pick an Italian, do I pick a northern Italian? A southern Italian? We’re Italians. I picked a Latino. Did it have to come from a certain section of the country? You know what? I think that’s a foolish statement to make. And I feel bad that you made it.”

In the interview, Zaretsky repeatedly attempted to explain to Maturo that the Latino community in East Haven is predominantly Ecuadorean, and that the experience of an immigrant from another country and their contact with the police is very different than that of someone from Puerto Rico, which is a U.S. territory whose residents are American citizens.

“It’s not the same country, it’s not the same culture ... They’re from a different continent,” Zaretsky said.

“Are they Latinos?” Maturo asked.

“Yeah, they’re Latinos,” Zaretsky said.

“OK,” Maturo said dismissively.

“I brought in a Latino,” Maturo went on to say. “Is he not dark enough for you, light enough for you? I don’t know, Mark … This is ridiculous, to be sitting here talking about the type of Latino. … I shouldn’t even be having the conversation.”
