11 footer question

has anyone cut the tip of an GSB 1321L down? I hear in certain circles that this rod with three inches taken off the tip is a killer rod. But I've never felt one in my hands, and was wondering if anyone here has done this.
Thinking of the winter...............................
I'd have it wrapped conventional for plugging.

I'd be curious to know the answer to this as well. It's a very whippy blank...

never cut a tip...on any blank unless it's already snapped off....cut a tip,, u own that blank for life.

goosefish 10-22-2004 05:55 PM

I'm well aware of that

Perhaps when someone has mastered the art, they look for new ways to be extreme :laughs: :laughs: :smash:

i think tinkering with blanks is just a further progression of the sport. you start of buying factory rods/reels/plugs, and then you see what you can do to make things better. add weight to this lure, drill wash hols in that reel, build your own rods, etc... then you get really into making your own rods and you want to make a rod for everything. how else to make an "in between" rod than really MAKE it in between. give me a hack saw for rod building any day.

hacksaw? butcher!

i rarely see factory blanks that do exactly what i want out of the package. but, then again, ask a group of fisherman what blank they like most and you will probably get a hundred different answers.

Totally agree with you Seawolf!

I recently held Goosefish's 120 1L conventional that has 2-3" off the tip and for conventional it felt sweet but I like the 1L the way it comes for spinning.

Only downfall of trying things with blanks is the fact that you loose the warranty!!!!
