Shelter recommendation
I am thinking of getting a Shelter.
The Eskimo FatFish 9491 is insulated and can hold 3-4 anglers. The Frabill Outpost Hub holds 2 - 3 anglers and is lighter and costs less. I am leaning to the Frabill, but I like the extra room of the Eskimo. Any recommendations? |
I have the Eskimo Quikfish 3....very light and you can backpack it out. very easy to setup as well. goes up in about 60 seconds.
You're welcome to check it out if you want. |

I have an older Shapel 2 man... I wouldn't call it light... or overly easy to set up... on the other hand... when I do use it... it always seems to be 20 below zero, and snowing like a blizzard and I seem to drag it for a mile or more..there are alot of inovative and user friendly ones on the market now.... KTP usualy sets them up so you can browse through them fairly early in the season.

Do you have to have insulated? I can see the use of Insulated if you lived in Seskatchewan..:hihi:
But for the most part you want to keep the wind off of you. |
Good tips.
Thank you! |
Go with the hub-style shelters. They are light, roomy, lock down nicely with ice anchors, and easy to set up. I've had an Eskimo Quick Fish 6 since they came out, about 5 years now. Starting to see wear on the seams, but fished the hell out of the thing so I can't complain. I also went in on it with 2 other anglers, so the price wasn't bad. I'll be getting another hub-style one with this one is retired. They are sweet.
