Roll call of the old school boyz

Yo,who's still crushing it before work for 3 days and functioning as a human...

Gotta pick my times now.
The older I get the busier I get.
That’s Fn wrong in so many ways !

No longer physically able to. My body can’t cash checks my mind wants to. Has to be a day off or weekend the next day. Physical work wears on muscles and joints. I’m almost as old as Makai

Long time gone, even though I’m retired, I enjoy not having to set an alarm more than catching another fish.

Oh hell no,,,,

I'm pretty much like the rest of you...heart and mind is willing but 3 nights a week with a day to recover in between is the best I can manage ( on a good week)... Monday night I fished until a little after 1.. by the time I got back home it was 2:45.. that 6:00 AM alarm was not my friend..Tuesday night I never saw the first spin of "wheel".. I felt like a zombie all day...fishing has been real good this year.. that last time it was this good ( 11 years ago) 3 days in a row didn't seem so hard...now it's just a dream... I took 7 large and lost a real screamer to a lobster pot Monday night.. I also had a bunch of 6-10lb fish.. I left them biting.. back "in the day" I probably would have stayed out all night and went straight to work...staying awake on the adrenalin of that lost fish...

JohnR 08-02-2018 07:42 AM

No. I rarely could fish all night and work next day AND bill clients ; 0

Previous jobs I could though

Nebe 08-02-2018 08:26 AM

It took me 3 days to recover from 2 coors lights and 4 hours sleep.
20 years ago it wouldn’t have even phased me.

Trying but failing most days. Just not fun to do that anymore. Took me a long time to figure that out.

Methinks we're all victims of father time....used to jump around rocks like a billy goat- now it's more like slug. The older I get the more I like the sand :).

BigFish 08-02-2018 02:40 PM

I enjoy getting up at 3:30-4:00am.....jumping in the truck and launching the yak at false dawn! On a good week when things are not too busy with everything I can do that 3 times a week but I am junk the entire day!:kewl:

ThrowingTimber 08-02-2018 03:16 PM

Oh, I can get up at o dark thirty.... it's the proximity to the toilet that can be the challenge in that first hour.... especially if the coffee has been loaded! Getting old is not for pussies.

well I still fish just about every day/night from early may till late October.there are times when I will go out 3 times in a day/night,and I still have a 40 hour work week.last season I went to the canal 4 to 5 times a week from mid june till mid septmber, which involves an hour drive to and an hour 10 minutes or more baqk to work a nine hour day when I get back.At 63 years old I feel real lucky to be healthy enough to still do it and to still be able to ski 80 to 100 days in the winter.i believe motion is lotion, you only hurt when you stop

All the above statements true as we age. The mind says"do it" but the body says, no no no!!

John- you are most definitely one of a kind

I admit I cannot do it anymore. Knees are shot. Backaches. Use to do 100+ night a year in the surf with The Rockhound. no more.

DZ 08-06-2018 10:40 AM

I make nightly plans for a casting session in the comfort of my air conditioned office - then I get home in this heat and ponder a half mile hike over the rocks in wetsuit or waders and basically talk myself out of it over a beer ;)

I used to make a biweekly friday nite trip to RI or NH/ME from Vermont
Drive over or down Friday after work, fish all nite nap Saturday, Fish all nite Nap and drive home
Now at 63 I play Golf, but I do walk as long as it's not over 80 something.

Steve K 08-06-2018 12:17 PM

Been 10 years plus since I last did that. Shoot for quality over quantity (number of nights). Enjoy fishing for schoolies with my 9 year old most.

Clammer 08-06-2018 01:02 PM

AT this stage & condition ………….> watch all the fishing on u-tube ……………. take a hit & I think I,m there :wid:

I work at a golf course mowing and cutting trees (when the temp isn't over 85.) I do get to play for free so Jeanne and I play at least twice a week.
