Flat screen tv

Got to relace a few TVs
Decided on LED over LCD
Anyone suggest a brand ?
Leaning towards another Sony but seems a few other brands have become big sellers.
Visio is one I'm seeing a lot.
Looking for life span, cost to repair if necessary
Thanks

Get an extended warranty from square trade for a lot cheaper than big box store - you can google coupons and save another 20%

For tv - keep an eye on slickdeals.net for pricing.

For calibrating see avsforum

If you want it all done for you go with one of the good local shops

Sony or Samsung

Try to get 240 HZ vs the 120HZ. You will notice a big difference when watching Football/Hockey/Baseball.......................

Vizio.Have two and can't complain.26"LCD and 37" LED.

Very happy with a new to me 46" Samsung. I say new to me, because my brother had it go out on him. Says he did the troubleshooting on it, and after consulting with a techwhiz friend of mine, he determined parts be too expensive. He waited too long and had taken the 36" from the bedroom to the living room. Didn't set well with his wife, as she went out and bought a new 50". I picked it up before he took it to the dump. My techwhiz buddy opened it up and within two minutes says "I think I see the problem..." One solder, a little wipe of alcohol, and it's looking beautiful in my den! Cost me some rubber and plugs as he and his son are getting the fishing bug... And yes, my brother is pissed....

I would not ever buy a sony.
I had the worse experience with their customer service.

Nice to see another plasma fan out there. Not being a big AV guy I really couldn't see the difference and couldn't justify spending 2x the money for an LED. I bought a Panasonic last year and have been very happy. :jump1:

So what did you get?

So what did you get. Those LEDs are pretty cool though on how thin and light they are. Good Luck! :uhuh:

No discussion on 2D vs 3D?

3D is a waste of money in my opinion. It's such an imperfect technology too. Every sat in front of one for 5 minutes with the glasses on? Major headaches.

Plasmas are still a great technology but has its drawbacks. Due to the weight, people are often hesitant to mount them on the wall and burn-in is a bigger concern. They also require quite a bit more power.
