oil stone refurbishing

Does anyone know how to refurbish the surface of an Arkansas Oil Stone, mine seems to be getting some groves in it, it's a very fine stone or should I chuck it out?
I was thinking of getting some fine oxide paper and rubbing the stone on that, on a flat surface.
Thank's Link Sr.

you may be able to purchase a leveling stone that has special grooves cut in it that helps restore the original flat surface to your sharpening/honing stones.. check woodcraft.com

as well as other wood tool sources..
