surface popper question

okay, designed and made template for a 7 inch surface popper. got my prototype turned, looks lovely. drilled thru, forstnered out the face (ends still on, obviously). now, what methods do you use to cut the angle on the head? i'm thinking of making a jig similar to a mitre box or i could just whack it on the bandsaw? ideas?
thanks

Just do it.

Just a single straight cut on an angle? I'd freehand it on the bandsaw.

Leave a little extra to adjust your angle using the belt sander after cutting.

I just initialed your new plug Jeff!:uhuh:

Sometimes I run it through the band saw. Other times if I have a bunch to do I set up my chop saw. Always leave a bit to clean up or adjust angle.
Make sure the angle is square to the eyes, etc.

I run it thru the band saw.

but on most cuts I put a dowell about 8" long into the swivel hole so I can make sure I have it perfectly on its side

Make a jig to hold cylinders while cutting or drilling by cutting a deep V groove down the length of a 12" piece of 2x4 using the table saw.

if you got the ends on and there square tilt the bansaws table and cut like that.....here what I go for the eyes after you got the head like you like I put the plug back on the lathe with the drill chuck and the 1/8 inch bit in it I slide the plug on the bit and put the tail stock in the tail weight hole....then I mark the eyes and use a v-block to drill the eye holes....every poppers different I turn them by hand

Many ways to do this. Your limit is what you have available to achieve the angle cut i.e. V block, band saw, chop saw , jig etc. You also can thru drill the wire hole then cut the angle. Jig the body using the angle cut to set up yor belly holes and drill. If you want eyes put a drill bit into the belly holes , level the bits or dowel and do the eyes. Find one that works for you.
