You're posting in the wrong forum. You'll get more help in the plug building forum. Pine, basswood, alaskan yellow cedar, port orford white cedar, and poplar are easy to work with and make good surface plugs. Maple, birch, beechwood, some mahogany make good subsurface plugs. Good luck.

for poppers you can use a good variety of woods that are available. Birch or maple is good because they have some weight to them so you don't need to add all that much lead depending on what you are making.

Yeah, but working with lead helps make you forget how much you're spending on your hobby.............as well as your wife and kids name's.
