identity politics bites democrats

Liz Warren, sinking in the polls
and unable to discuss policy ideas, turns to the last resort of the scoundrel and calls Bernie a bigot. Then the two of them go at it, with Warren shocked that he called her a liar. She has as much right to be appalled by being called a liar, as George Costanza.

Nothing sweeter than watching the crocodile of identity politics attack the very people who gleefully fed it for years.

I’m almost tired of winning. They are completely imploding over there, the establishment is again horrified that it could be Bernie again.

I have said for months that the closest thing they have to normal is Klobuchar. She gets ignored because she refuses to pander to the nuts that run their party.

Trumps the king of identity politics, it the fuel that drives everything he does

And if I remember Ted Cruz won Iowa, until there's only 2 dems on the debate stage it's a shell game , then then we will have only 1 Democrat on the debate stage
With an empty chair seeing Trump will more likely only do rallies, we'll see

i’m pretty sure you have no idea what “identity politics” means. Trump is incredibly vulgar and insulting, but he’s not obsessed with reducing people to their gender, skin color, sexual orientation, blah blah blah. You guys do that incessantly, not my side. Here is a rare case where is absolutely bit the democrats in the ass. And it was beyond glorious, and obviously helps trump.

I'm sure you have no clue about what you speak.

You honestly believe the Trumplican Party is reflective of the composition of this country by any measure or that it has the desire to be?

It consists of:
8% of black voters
20% of hispanic voters
12% of asian voters

Trumpworld is the home of white identity politics and Floridaman plays the chords very well.

Trumplicans feel, to some extent, that the rug is being pulled out from under them — that the benefits they have enjoyed because of their race, their groups’ advantages, and their status atop the racial hierarchy are all in jeopardy.
That more attention needs to be given to the dire circumstances of working white men and women, Trump’s election was a white, working-class, often rural backlash and what is needed is a focus on Middle America.

"Identity politics" is the political tactic of obsessing with gender, skin color, sexual orientation. It's a pillar of liberalism, it's not on the radar screen of most conservatives. We tend to not care. If you disagree with that, that's your right. It's hysterical, but it's your right.

"You honestly believe the Trumplican Party is reflective of the composition of this country "

That's has nothing to do with identity politics. But the answer to your question, of course, is no. The GOP does very poorly with minorities.

You would say that's because the GOP is racist. I would say it's because the entire media and all of academia never stops painting the GOP as racist, even though there's zero truth to that. Zip.

Paul, a liberal walks through Baltimore or Bridgeport, and says that the blacks there need more liberalism. A conservative sees these cities, sees that they've been run by liberals for 100 years, and concludes that blacks in those cities need something different and better. Liberals push abortion and minimum wage, which obviously disproportionately impact blacks. Conservatives wish to address black fatherlessness, liberals blame it all on white supremacy.

Just because it works, doesn't mean it's true.

"Trumplicans feel, to some extent, that the rug is being pulled out from under them — that the benefits they have enjoyed because of their race, their groups’ advantages, and their status atop the racial hierarchy are all in jeopardy."

So liberals never claim that working class-folks are being left behind as the wealthy get ahead? How come it's heroic and empathetic when liberals say the little guy is falling behind, but it's racist when Trumplicans say it?

Paul, all you have is name-calling like Floridaman and Trumplicans. When you're (1) wrong on the facts, and (2) too small to admit so, you can always accuse your opponents of bigotry.

You're pathetic and desperate, as are the candidates and the DNC.

You're an idiot and get so angry you don't even know who you are talking to.

Jim, without identity politics Trump has no base. What have you been smoking?

When all you can do is criticize my typos, I'm feeling good about the validity of my opinions.

I'm an idiot. You live in CT, you see the results of liberal economics, and yet you're a liberal. How bad do things have to get in your home state, before you can say "liberalism sounded great, but it obviously just doesn't work"? How much worse would it have to get?

How do you reconcile that, with what has happened to minority unemployment? And who celebrated that at the last SOTU, and who was miserable about it? Please explain...

You and PeteF are making Jim's point. As in this thread it's you guys who are the ones who keep bringing up the identity nonsense. And using this identity stuff to both smear Repubs and gather votes from those "identities." Without those various identities the Democrat party would have a very shrunken base. The so-called "identities" are a critical part of the Democrat base. It, in some respect, becomes a race between the people vs. the "identities." And the Dems have to play up to those identities to let them know that they are on their side. That the Repubs are identified as racists, homophobes, sexists, rich folks who don't give a hoot for the Dems selected and very important identities.

Idiot - where have I criticized your typos? I'm not as petty as SD or Scott to point out typos.

I like it here and wouldn't move to the majority of conservative states. Many stats rank CT (and other liberal states) much higher than conservative states but if $ is the only thing that matters to you so be it.

The Repubs. put up horrible candidates (Hyde, the last guy who ran for Gov with no platform other than he would get rid of the income tax w/o telling us how he would make up revenue, etc).

"where have I criticized your typos? "

That I didn't know who I was talking to, that was a typo...

"if $ is the only thing that matters to you so be it. "

Nice dodge. I asked if liberalism has worked in CT.

Stefanowski was a good candidate. It's just a blu state, a challenge even for good candidates. They're not all like Hyde, Paul. The speaker pf the house in CT is a democrat named Joe Aresimowicz. Know what his full time job is? He works full-time for AFSCME, the largest state employee labor union. He's not in the union, he is the union. And he votes on budgets. No conflict of interest there! Shocker that our debt is $40,000 per person.

CT has many nice features. But it's stupidly expensive, and about to get a lot more so. But nice dodge.

It is not a dodge, you constantly talk about the state debt as if that was the only thing.

And I don't think you are an idiot - which I can't say about some other people.

Americans of all backgrounds are experiencing economic success in the Trump economy

you keep repeating this lie that somehow Trump has helped out blacks on purpose as if it was his plan

However, even at an annual rate of 6.6 percent, the black unemployment rate was still more than double the white unemployment rate of 3.2 percent in 2018.

The black unemployment rate has been about double the white unemployment rate for more than four decades,

The Trump administration should be judged by what they do to keep the rate down, and to close the persistent 2-to-1 racial disparity. That would be a truly historic accomplishment worthy of everyone attending the State of the Union rising to their feet in thunderous applause.

Do your fingers get dirty from being in your ears all the time?

"Americans of all backgrounds are experiencing economic success in the Trump economy"

No matter how much you dislike this, it's true. The facts don't care what you think of them. But when your agenda forces you to deny what is mathematically irrefutable, that's some agenda you got there.

"somehow Trump has helped out blacks on purpose as if it was his plan "

I don't know if it was his plan, you don't know that it wasn't. But THIS I know, this we all know...at the state of the union, Trump celebrated low black unemployment, and one side erupted in cheers, and the other side sat on their hands with scowls on their faces, just as you and Pete do when this comes up. It's GREAT news for minorities. Again, we all know you hate that, but it's true nonetheless.

"The black unemployment rate has been about double the white unemployment rate for more than four decades,"

Blame the absentee fathers, that's where the blame lies. Not with Republicans.

Black unemployment is at a all time low. And you can't say a single good thig about it, because you hate the man you know helped pull it off.

"The Trump administration should be judged by what they do to keep the rate down, and to close the persistent 2-to-1 racial disparity."

"The Trump administration should be judged by what they do to keep the rate down"

The rate IS down. Are you judging him on that?

"and to close the persistent 2-to-1 racial disparity"

I'll judge him on his ability to give them the opportunity to close that gap. If they choose not to take advantage of the rising tide lifting all boats, that's not his fault.

Blacks aren't suffering today, because of racism. They suffer because their culture embraces unproductive behaviors, starting with fatherlessness. The unemployment gap will never close meaningfully, until that statistic improves. It all begins and ends with that.
