Not as good as VT but...

Spending the weekend in Freeport! Lunch and Dinner here I come.

Clogston29 09-03-2015 11:43 AM

dinner is not typically available. its a limited offering and from what I understand people line up for it well before they open and you need to get their early.

they have lunch more often, but do tend to run out. go early in the weekend for your best change.

no growlers, just bottles and tasting.

good luck.

conundrum wine bistro is very good if your looking for a place from dinner. a short drive from downtown, south past the brewery.

Rockport24 09-03-2015 12:54 PM

never had this "lunch" stuff, is it really as good as Heady or Lawson's (I like Lawson's sip o sunshine better than Heady I think by the way)

Clogston29 09-03-2015 01:41 PM

Lunch is great, but a small step down from Hills Farmstead Susan/Harlan and Trillium Congress/Melcher/A street IMO. I have not had Lawson's or Heady. Lunch is a single IPA, so comparing it to doubles is not really apples to apples. Dinner would be more comparable, but I haven't had that either.

Lunch has been getting a lot more available lately...I've seen it pop up around here almost on a monthly basis....even seen it on tap at a couple of different restaurants.

I haven't had the Dinner either...Like Josh said....very limited release...and plan on standing in line.

Bissell Brothers is one to keep an eye out for. I have not tried but heard good things about their beer called "The Substance". Brewed in Portland. Good chance you could see it kicking around.

Rockport24 09-04-2015 09:09 AM

didn't realize lunch was a single IPA.. I'll take Trillium over most beers these days honestly, it's that good

rphud 09-04-2015 10:33 AM

No Dinner until the end of October (now they tell me!) but a good supply of Lunch and Mo was procured. Hit Conundrum last night and they have a small but very nice selection on tap. Had a Palo Santo and a Unibroue Noire De Chambly. On our way to Allagash and Bissell Bros this PM me thinks.

Oh yeah, the food was very good at Conundrum and the wait staff was very, very good.

rphud 09-05-2015 05:23 AM

Man, there are a lot of breweries up here now. 20 on the map.

Stopped at Bissell Bros after Allagash. Neat place, but out of beer to go (only sold in cans, no growlers). Replication is not on their web site list, but is quite good. Up today at 12. I hear the line starts before 11 though.

Likely working in Lexington soon, so I will be stopping by Trillium in the not too distant future.

Enjoying the Lunch and Mo for now.

I would also recommend Beer II and Nitro Mean Old Tom. Very good beers there.

The Dad Fisherman 09-09-2015 08:04 PM

Beer ll is good....just a little pricey for a session brew.....just found out one of my favorite pubs has Mo on tap..... :hee:

who makes beer II? same brewery?

rphud 09-10-2015 09:00 AM

Yup. Maine Beer Co.

Only an additional one dollar at the brewery.

That place was jammed all weekend.

Clogston29 09-10-2015 09:00 PM

I liked beer 1 better. Hope they do lil 1 again this winter. I'll be I Freeport in October, maybe I'll luck out with dinner.

Had my own "not as good as Vermont" working in Worcester today. HF double citra and grassroots on tap. 12 pack of bottle rocket and growler of be hoppy at wormtown.

Ha, I made the same stops today but throw in a cheese platter and some pork belly cracklings! Yesterday was a Trillium run for a couple growlers, one Melcher St. and one Sunshower Super Saison. Tailgate supply run!

I should have done cheese. Did the cracklings and hummus plate.

Hit Maine beer co this week. Lunch is so good from a bottle, much better than from tap. Had beer 3 but wasn't overly impressed. Great dinner at conundrum also.

I wasn't that impressed with their Beer ll either.....a bit pricey for a session brew.

I'm heading up there Thursday with the wife for the day. Planning on hitting there and Bissell Bros on the way home.....gonna try to squeeze in Barreled Souls as well.
