Was this a completely stupid question? Be honest……

I think one big problem will be dogs eating $2/ bait.

Course if you buy pogies, $2/bait is a bargain.

i would think they would ball up alot

I had some black eels left over after I closed the tackle shop in late October a few years back and tried it down on Peaked Hill. It was a slow day anyways, so nothing happened, but I figured what the hell, was going to "release them" anyways.

They did not ball up, nor did any dogs etc eat them, as they were not around.

No, so I'm told back in the day it was a very effective way to catch tuna.

I've caught tuna on rigged dead eels, so I think live ones would probably work.

Definitely Dennis. A fresh eel will catch any local predator. I have caught bass, blues and sharks on them. The guys south of Nantucket throw eels (and scup) at white marlin. If you toss a live eel in front of tuna feeding on smaller bait, you will catch.
