Eels
Anyone ever drift eels for Tuna off shore?
Yes, no, why and why not? Only problem I can think of is hook size to eel (any maybe Blue Fish)............ |

I think one big problem will be dogs eating $2/ bait.
Course if you buy pogies, $2/bait is a bargain. |
i would think they would ball up alot

I had some black eels left over after I closed the tackle shop in late October a few years back and tried it down on Peaked Hill. It was a slow day anyways, so nothing happened, but I figured what the hell, was going to "release them" anyways.
They did not ball up, nor did any dogs etc eat them, as they were not around. |

I've caught tuna on rigged dead eels, so I think live ones would probably work.

Definitely Dennis. A fresh eel will catch any local predator. I have caught bass, blues and sharks on them. The guys south of Nantucket throw eels (and scup) at white marlin. If you toss a live eel in front of tuna feeding on smaller bait, you will catch.
