Flasher

Does anybody here have a recommendation for a flasher for jigging? Looking at Marcum but lowrance has a good looking unit also.

I have an older( 5 years or so) Marcum( don't remember the number) it's been an excellent machine, its easy to use and it will mark the knot on your line between braid and mono leader.. I also have a travel pack for my garmin striker 7 that is the back up on the boat, honestly, I like the flasher better for jigging..

Thanks Joe, that’s what I was looking at. They have a nice big screen for my old eyes and most reviews favor that brand. Anything hard up near Conway that you recommend? Either that or it looks like Schroon lake!

Love my Lowrance hook2 ice bundle!
You can watch them refuse to eat.
Also mounts on my skiff with the included skimmer transducer.

I've been fishing a little south of there ...ice thickness varies greatly, not just lake to lake, but within each lake, the one I fished Saturday went from 7 to 3 then back to seven...kind of freaky...

I had one, not one of lowrance's better machines. ..

I have been using a Showdown Ice Stroller for a few years.
Being a bar graph display is relatively simple to understand.
It uses 6 AA batteries but has the option of using a 12v battery.

Although it's designed to be carried around your neck on a lanyard, I got the "performance pack" which has it mounted in a carrying case which can hold a 12v battery in its base.

Regardless of what type you get, make sure you understand the basic operation and limitations of the model you get.

I love mine and it's made jigging a whole lot more fun!!!

Look into Vexilar as well. Very good units.

My serious ice fishing buddies way up in Maine recommended the Humminbird Ice 345. It can be used as a flasher or as a fish finder and can see a medium jig at 200 feet. I should have bought the one with GPS so it could remember spots for me. I'm sure there is a newer model by now as mine is 3 or 4 years old.
