Plum Island info needed

Hi Team S-B,
After 19 years of doing our week vacation in August on the outer Cape, the sharks have forced the issue for us to adapt our vacation routine so our kids can swim in the ocean in a safer habitat. We want to start planning for the Plum Island area now. I have no experience out there and am looking for pointers in the area of lodging, recreation, etc. We are looking at the third week in August. Please PM me. I would love to pound some sand/rocks, fish from the kayak, or pay to get on someones' boat for a night with someone who knows the skinny out there.
Thanks in advance!
Mikey

I don't know enough on PI to be a Tour Guide, only fished there a dozen times. Also - find out what the Beach Pass status is for ORV

and

Seals are hauled out on rocks there now at low tide. Just not the numbers the Cape has. But doesn't mean there are not any sharks.....
So if you want shark free water, you may want to find a place with a pool.
Closures for plovers began April 1.

That's why I said "safer habitat". We had a too close for comfort moment last August on the outer Cape with whitey that left my wife feeling very uneasy about that area. At least she still is letting me keep our end of June trip out there.

I can't help you with lodging, but PM me before you go in August, I'll take you out a few nights, can also put you on some sandy spots and a few rock piles from shore.

The beach closure due to.plovers is usually over by the second week of August, sandy point and Emerson rocks are not effected by the plover, closures seals are usually, not a big problem on the beach, but in the river they can be trouble. .

outer cape

There are places on the cape to swim where the sharks have not gone as it is too shallow for them. send me a message with your number and I'll tell you the ones I know

I assume you're talking about a different plum island than the one off of Long Island's north shore?

l.i.fish.in.vt 04-28-2019 07:22 AM

yes,Mike he is talking Plum Island Ma.i am almost certain that orv acess is my a lottery, only 25 passes given out.have been to the area a few times and reall y like it around there, but i will say it doesn't come close to the outer cape, for what it has to offer. to me. as a place for a family vacation it will be nice if you have a place with beach acess.see you in June Mikey
