Westerns

my fav is Unforgiven. What a classic movie with all the ingredients. Hackman was such a SOB, Little Bill. So many classic lines. William Munny played by Clint. Eastwoods best movie in IMO.

Shane is next on my list followed by J. Wayne in The Shootist.

The John Ford classic She wore a Yellow Ribbon is high on my list too. He was such a great director and Wayne you could go on and on about his greatness. True Grit. and the great comedy western McClintock which was fantastic with M. O'Hara

Ahhhhh....my favorite movie genre'! Since you asked.......I will name my top ten almost in order!

1. The Searchers (John Wayne)

2. Gunfight at the OK Corral (Kirk Douglas, Burt Lancaster)

3. The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (Jimmy Stewart, John Wayne)

4. The Big Country (Gregory Peck, Charleton Heston)

5. The Fastest Gun Alive (Glenn Ford)

6. Shane (Alan Ladd, Van Heflin)

7. The Shootist (John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart, Ron Howard)

8. The Magnificent Seven (Do I need to list them all?):rotf2:

9. The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly (Clint Eastwood, Lee Van Cleef)

10. 3:10 to Yuma (Glenn Ford, Van Heflin)

11. High Noon (Gary Cooper)

Sorry they are not in order and there are 11....I can't pick them that way! If you folks have not seen The Big Country or The Fastest Gun Alive.......see these 2 movies.......The Big Country is one of the best all time!!! Glenn Ford was an under rated actor so see any of his movies!!

BigFish 11-07-2009 08:56 PM

I love Silverado....but I lump that in with the modern ay westerns which, as far as I am concerned, can't hold a candle to the classics!
