Gday all!

My name is Marc Russo,
Im from Perth Western Australia and stax put link up on our steep point site so i though i would share some of my pics with ya ;)

One pic in particular with amaize you.
I was only 17yrs and i hooked , fought and landed a 100pound sailfish from the cliff.

Its just about impossible to achive this and me bieng 17yrs old was even more special.

Its pretty easy to land sailfish from the back of a boat, just whack it in reverse and reel it in. Try catching the fastest fish in the ocean on 50pound line off a cliff! haha It was fun!

1 big regret is not releasing this great fish, by the time we got the fish to the base of the cliffs it was had it and hooked in the eye.

I allways release fish now and only take enough for a feed and only take what we need.

Here is the pics

Haha yep they sure do!

Do your bluefish have a reputation of biting a careless fishermans fingers and making them bleed?

Yes - even when you cut their heads off those eyes still watch your movements... Sometimes when wading a good bit from shore out on the flats with water beyond your waist, even holding the fish all the way out of the water it'll try to leap and take a chunk out of you... Razor lipped %%^$&# fish...

Hey question for you - how do you release a fish from 100 feet / 33M in the air??

Thanks & great pics!

No probs ;)
Well most of the smaller fish we through back do acually swim off fine but when i said release fish after we caught enough i ment fishing in general like down here in perth off our beaches etc:)

Its really good watching alot of people releasing fish in australia now. Everyone now realises that we cant take everything we catch. We have to fish for the future and take only what we need :)

That is crazy! Beautiful pictures, awesome scenery, great fish. what more can I say?

JohnR 12-11-2006 08:10 PM

I'll tell you - impressive stuff and a lot different than what we have here in the Northeast USA. Though we do have bluefish / tailors, ours can get to 7-9 kilos and occasionally bigger though I've hear your's can push 12-13 kilos.

Our sharks and tuna come from boat though one adventurous souls is going to land a Giant from the Canal some day :hihi:

Most of us surf fishing for bigger fish - targetting 20-50# (10-25 kilo) Stripers, do so at night as these fish are much more nocturnal when along the shore. From boat it's around the clock...

Other than the standup gear on 10 rods  and Alveys, we use a lot of similar equipment from Abu conventionals (multipliers) to VS spinners and such... Cool stuff. Oh, and little pressure

Damn, whaddya think folks? Road Trip? :humpty:  :buds:

This is a pic of how big the swell can get.

Thats a pic of my dad and a wave acually coming higher than the cliff!!!!

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h4...r/bigswell.jpg

Stax 12-12-2006 02:18 AM

Here is a picture of a wave that has just smashed into a 36 feet high cliff, (you cant quite see this cliff, but its about 60 yards away from where the photo is taken)the top of this wave is at least 70 feet high.
I'm sure Tailor Marc can work out where its taken from and then confirm just how big it is. I do have some video of the 25-30 foot swell. Its 10Mb so a little awkward in its size. Even this does not do the wave justice. If anybody wants a copy let me know, I'll email it to them.

Tailor marc 12-12-2006 02:25 AM

Yep, i know the spot Stax!

Geee that is a high section of cliff! I think i have some pics of how high that section is.

Goes to show how big the swell can get and how dangerous it is
