Went to trim some lanes

on a stand that I was going to hunt tonight, I just put it up last sunday. So I walk in and leave the bow in the truck, cause I am going to trim the lanes and then get lunch and come back. Won't be doing that anymore.....:fury:

Then on the way home I almost nailed a doe crossing the street in front of Fishbones house. :grins:

Friday I went back into that stand. After it quieted down I started to rattle, 20 minutes later I heard some soft grunts, this went on for about 45 minutes. Finally I heard one coming, and at 80 yards I saw a spike, he was grunting soft.. I hit the can to see what he would do, and he stopped, looked my direction, so I hit it again and he came in on a string. First and foremost I am a meathunter, and I think any deer you take is a trophy. He presented me with a 20 yard shot so I double lunged hi, meat in the freezer.

On Saturday! myself and canalratt went in to stands that are 200 yards apart in a swamp. After it quieted down I did a rattling sequence, and 10 minutes later I heard a deer approaching from behind. Unfortunately the wind was blowing that way and I never saw the deer and it trotted off between us. At 640 I rattled off another sequence mixing in some grunts and bleats. About 15 minutes later I heard a deer coming in front of me, it was him the big 8. It was so quiet in the woods you could hear a mouse fart at 100 yards, this was to be my undoing. He spent about 20 minutes in front of me never offering a shot. He was trying to come down my right side but stopped 5 feet from Friday's gut pile, he just stood there sniffing the ground for about 5 minutes, I was starting to get the shakes. He casually turned around, and walk back circling around to 20 yards in front of me, stopping behind a triple trunked oak. I could see his eye between the trunks, I needed one step to block his eye so I could draw, and 3 more to drill him. He took the step and I drew, he heard the arrow sliding on the rest, and bounded away 20 yards, stopped and walked back to where he came from. Just too damn quiet, if it was a little breezy and the leaves were rustling I would have been all set. I will see him again.

wow great story ! thanks for sharing!
I had been thinking after watching the first video of lane clearing
that your Buck was out of range had you brought your Bow that day
but it was hard to tell...

In front of me he was 20 yards, then when he went around to my right the next big opening it 25 yards. I shoot a fast bow, and have shot it out to 50 yards with targets no problem. My longest kill shot was like 34 yards
