Dead at 63--which was, ironically, his uniform number :(

Pancreatic cancer, only diagnosed a week or so ago. Mercifully, he went fast.

Many would argue that he (Gene Upshaw) was part of with Art Shell & Jim Otto ( later center Dave Dalby) the greatest left side of an offensive line ever !
