As some of you know

A fisherman slipped off the rocks at Hazard Ave, Narraganset. Someone attempted a save, as well as first responders. My understanding is they were not able to resuscitate the fisherman.

I have not seen any names released yet.

seems like a fairly regular occurrence there, so unfortunate...a man drowned swimming near Rough Point in Newport over the weekend too...don't know where you'd want to swim there particularly with the recent swell ....appropriately called "rough" and "hazard"

Crazy. Fished Indian Rock at Hazard just last week. I’ll pop in and out of there when the peanuts show, but never in a swell.

The swell was big, and predicted.... I was actually texting with Saltyric Saturday morning about emergency activity off Marblehead Neck, as I had been notified by my wife during her morning walk. A local recreational lobsterman with many years experience was looking for some lost gear when he got washed out of his 17' Whaler by a wave.... He was in an area I never would have put my boat into, even on a calm day. He swam a very short distance to the beach, which is mostly rock and small boulders, without injury, and proceeded to watch his boat get bounced in the waves on the reef until it was washed ashore. Bottom ripped out. Floats, but has been totaled. He was lucky, and admits his mistake. Said he should have known better.

JohnR, same beach I took you to one night, and said no way, not tonight....

Every year or other year the avenues or beavertail claim a soul.

I look at the forecast daily, i used the day that didnt stack the known heave and fished. The next day the wind did a 180 and a 15 second interval went to 4 seconds. Add wind against tide ... fckd conditions. A SCA is not a light consideration, in any boat.

the guy who tried to save the victim is our niece's significant other. Former police officer, now retired.
