So...Are You Ready???

So who is looking forward to doing some yak fishing this season? I know I am and I am hoping to get together with as many Yak Rats as possible this season! Its always a great time! Hope you folks are up for it? I know a few of us are more than ready!!!! I just dropped my yak on the trailer yesterday...got a little rigging to do for cameras and getting my freshwater gear ready first but as soon as we get a good day....I am going!

Rockport24 03-21-2014 04:07 PM

honestly can't wait to get out! Maybe I can get down to the south shore this spring...

Backbeach Jake 03-22-2014 07:37 AM

Bought some camera mounts, install to come later. Right now the big blue thing is still on it's side , waiting.

BigFish 03-22-2014 08:32 AM

You da man Fred! Matt I need to get up your way!!!!:uhuh:

I'm sort of ready. Got a new 2014 revolution that I added a few things too. Rigged up this lithium battery for the lowrance sonar and did some gear trac. Not sure how much fishing I plan on doing but I will certainly be exploring a lot.

that may be easier.. I got some good early spring spots, maybe we can get TDF out on his kayak!

BigFish 03-24-2014 11:42 AM

Cool!:uhuh:

jonserfish 03-24-2014 05:27 PM

can't wait to get out. unsure if i want to mount the go pro on my head or my yak. i kinda want it to see where i look but there are times i think a deck mount would be cool to.any input would be appreciated.
i yak south shore ma. quite a bit starting in the back rivers and work my way out front than back to the bays and rivers. . By far my favorite form of fishing. if anyone wants to get out in mt hope bay area let me know

BigFish 03-24-2014 05:58 PM

Jonserfish from experience I can tell you a head mount sucks for fishing! Very boring video and you will not see much and what you do see will be very bouncy to watch! Mount it on the yak facing you! Have you seen any of my yak videos?

Rockport24 03-25-2014 11:34 AM

yeah second what BigFish said, mount it facing towards you, it will make for a much better video - well that is if you want to look at yourself :D

really though it gives a better view of the hook up and the fish...

BigFish 03-25-2014 01:45 PM

I will have several cameras mounted this season in at least 3 maybe 4 locations! One facing me, one on the bow facing forward, one in the water for the underwater catch and underwater release....and maybe one behind me! Stay tuned!

Backbeach Jake 03-26-2014 06:06 PM

^That's awesome! Can't wait to see the videos.

SamSmith 03-28-2014 09:36 PM

Tagger 04-02-2014 06:44 PM

I'm waiting for a check ,, Once that happens the jeep is going in for a Congo Cage and some yakima adapters for those bars . Won't be long .. Right now it aint moving .. Forces me to get my yard work done .. I bought a bunch of hooks and flourocarbon leader ,, 20 and 50 for fluke and tog rigs .. Once I start ,, that's it ..

Tagger 04-02-2014 06:46 PM

Let me know when you want to go...I got some camping gear. :hihi:

BigFish 04-03-2014 07:28 AM

Anyone know of a great yak spot where there is direct access to pull that yaks out and camp on the water AND have a camp fire?? Freshwater or salt I am good!

The Dad Fisherman 04-03-2014 08:09 AM

how far you willing to travel?

Rockport24 04-03-2014 08:59 AM

yeah TDF - didn't you do that with the scouts on Thatcher's? The boston harbor islands are another option...
I would be up for it....

BigFish 04-03-2014 11:03 AM

Harbor islands do not allow open fires which....for me.....is a big part of camping. Any thoughts at all Kevin I am all ears?

Rockport24 04-03-2014 12:00 PM

yeah fires are prohibited on Thatcher's as well.. that sucks!
Maybe we can bring back the thousand islands idea?

The Dad Fisherman 04-03-2014 01:40 PM

The no fires thing is a drag. Thatchers is nice too.....easy paddle out as well.

Let me work on it.....

BigFish 04-03-2014 04:29 PM

Love to get a group together for a trip....we tried last year but it never got off the ground? Who else might be interested?

The Dad Fisherman 04-03-2014 05:02 PM

Any interest in maybe winnipesaukee?

What about Mooselookmeguntic Lake in Maine? I've heard they have islands that you can camp on.. open fires allowed!

BigFish 04-07-2014 01:39 PM

That has been on my list as well!!!:uhuh:

BigFish 04-07-2014 04:35 PM
