stair railing ballister??

What does anyone think about using a ballister for a shape?
I do not have a lathe or access to one and to be quite honest I suck at woodwork. But I was thinking if I found a ballister that had a functional shape then I could cut it down to an appropriate size and go from there. Another question is how would I go and through wire it once I have it the way I want?

I know I know i,m going to get a lot of ......"save your time and buy a Habb's" feedback....

but I want to play too.

keep an eye out for old wooden chairs ...the spindle's work too.most are maple, good for needles.

woodwork skills:
allot of it centers around manual dexterity....so keep that in mind.

sander paper is cheap... enough... try going to the indoor swap meets

or search the want ads for cheap tools...like a mini drill press ...

sometimes local schools have after- hours access to woodshops for

non students.. to learn some wood working skills.....:chatter

so ask around...and soon you'll expand your horizon .

A better bet would be to check out njtackle.com. They have plug kits with all the parts included. You just seal, prime, paint, clear coat, add hardware, go fishing. A great way to get introduced to the hobby and still end up with a functional plug :kewl:
