Ryan fact check

FactCheck.org : Ryan’s VP Spin

spence 08-30-2012 01:26 PM

Considering the GM plant was in his hometown I think that might count more as a lie than just spin.

I'm waiting for Jim to jump all over Ryan's near claim that Obama is out to kill grandma. I thought only liberals talked like that :hihi:

Spence, again, you recently denied that Michelle O said that she wasn't proud of the US until recently. Are you ready to admit you were wrong? Just want to establish whether ort not you have any credibility.

It was the liberals who made a commercial out of the idea that Ryan was pushing old ladies off a cliff. Is Ryan suggesting that? WHat I heard Ryan say, is that Obama took $700 billion from Medicare. I her Obama say "yeah, but we're paying for that by reducing reimbursements to doctors". If that's truem it still hurts grandma. Because lower reimbursements will mean more docs will refuse to accept Medicare patients. That hurts current seniors.

Try makiing that wrong...

even the fact check is so opiniated:
Example below -
Ryan falsely claimed that the stimulus failed to help taxpayers and that it “cut out” the American people. Actually, more than 25 percent of stimulus dollars went to provide tax relief for workers.

Ryan: [The stimulus] cost $831 billion. The largest one-time expenditure ever by our federal government. … You, the American people of this country, were cut out of the deal.

The nonpartisan Joint Committee on Taxation calculated that about $230 billion of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act provided tax relief. Much of that money, about $116 billion, funded the Making Work Pay tax credit for workers. In 2009 and 2010, the credit gave up to $400 to individuals earning up to $75,000, and gave up to $800 to couples earning up to $150,000.

But that $$ was so small per individuals/couples - it DID fail to help people. It also "cut out" people maling over 75K. It was a big freakin waste of $$.

He said it was at the expense of the elderly...same thing as pushing them off a cliff.

Most of the spending cuts are to hospitals and insurance not individual doctors. Part of the deal cut with the HCB was for the government to pay less in exchange for more people in the system. These would actually improve care to seniors as they would have more access to services for the same money.

It is at the expense of the elderly. The feds are, on behalf of the elderly, reducing the payments to docs for treating the elderly. That necessarily means that fewer docs will choose to treat Medicare patients. That hurts current seniors more tha Ryan's proposal, which didn't change anything for current seniors.

"

Poppycock...

"The whole idea of Medicare Advantage was to drive down the cost of health insurance for the elderly as private insurance companies competing for seniors’ business.

That’s not what happened. By 2010, the average Medicare Advantage per-patient cost was 117 percent of regular fee-for-service. The Affordable Care Act gives those private plans a haircut and tethers reimbursement levels to the quality of care administered, and patient satisfaction."

"The health law changed how Medicare calculates what [hospitals] get reimbursed for various services, slightly lowering their rates over time. Hospitals agreed to these cuts because they knew, at the same time, they would likely see an influx of paying patients with the Affordable Care Act’s insurance expansion."

Romney’s right: Obamacare cuts Medicare by $716 billion. Here’s how.
