Neighborly Advice.....Little help please.

Just curious what is the socially acceptable time to mow your lawn on a weekend morning?

justplugit 05-28-2010 08:29 PM

We used to have an unwritten law in the neighborhood of no
mowing until after 10 am on Saturdays and after 1 PM on Sundays.

Long gone. :(

PRBuzz 05-28-2010 08:37 PM

Comm guys start at 7:30!

BigFish 05-28-2010 08:39 PM

Eight O'clock! Most towns have a noise ordinance between 11pm and 7am!

If your neighbor is an ass-hat......fire that sucker up at 6:55am!

BigFish 05-28-2010 08:44 PM

Mike....I see its your birthday tomorrow......start at 6:00 am if you wish!:uhuh:

BigFish 05-28-2010 08:44 PM

Oh...and happy premature birthday!

Raider Ronnie 05-28-2010 09:04 PM

I start @ 6:00 am if I want.
Sometimes I'm mowing at night after dark.
I have no abutting neighbors.
Wrentham has a 1 mile acre minimum 1/2 mile radius of the town center, 2 acre min outside that.

BigFish 05-28-2010 09:10 PM

But do you have neighbors that are butts???:jump1:

The Dad Fisherman 05-28-2010 09:46 PM

Just judge when you start seeing the neighbors moving about and you'll be able to gauge it.....I usually wait until 9....

Clammer 05-28-2010 10:57 PM

Mike , WTF is a weekend ??????????????

Just play it safe ........wear rubbers & start anyday afternoon time :devil2:

ProfessorM 05-29-2010 08:23 AM

9 if you are my neighbor. Can always ask them what time they get up.

Swimmer 05-29-2010 12:56 PM

When I worked night, and that was for twenty-five years I felt the same way about when people did outside work. Grin and bear it thats all I could do. Finally starting wearing ear plugs to bed and that works great.

Commercials guys can start work at 7 a.m.

My neighbor across the street runs a garage and gets home late. He is the only guy I know thats actually needs the headlights on his mower.

I will say this, my neighbor next door wont mow if we are outside on the deck and neither will I. Couldn't have nicer people in the neighborhood.

jredfly 05-30-2010 08:30 AM

I would be fine with anytime but I am always up before 6:00 so I was thinking any time after 8:00 would be fine but I asked around and the consenus I got was 10:00 on the weekends. But what do we know, we are fishermen who sometimes fish at night and sleep by day. We are probably not the best group to ask. :jump1:

Adam_777 05-30-2010 09:10 AM

They should have the same law applying to the wifes vacuuming.I hate listening to that thing before 9 am.Makes my blood boil....

PaulS 06-01-2010 06:57 AM

I think 9:00.

PRBuzz 06-01-2010 07:10 AM

My main constraint in start time is not the neighbors but family members sleeping in......

gf2020 06-02-2010 10:51 AM

I don't like to mow the lawn when it is wet, so I would wait until the dew has dried, typically after 9:00 or even 10:00 AM.

american spirit 06-03-2010 06:32 AM

i never feel right starting the mower up before 10. i got some neighbors who like to sleep in on weekends. see how early you notice people moving around next door.

Fly Rod 06-03-2010 07:27 AM

When the grass is dry!:)

5/0 06-03-2010 04:13 PM

I would say 0800 & you still haven't told us what time your neighbor started.

Not to get off topic but my neighbor across the street starts his snowblower @ 0500:smash:I'll be shoveling and look over like "really"?So I'll wait till at least 0530 then start mine and if anyone ask's,I'll say he started it!:grins:

Saltheart 06-04-2010 01:33 AM

In my neighborhood its 8AM. Almost like the alarm going off , right at 8Am you can hear about a half dozen starting up almost every morning ,weekend or weekday doesn't matter. Even the pro lanscapers wait til 8 in my neighborhood.
