First impression, great campaighn speech.
Emergency, Emergency.
"Pass this Bill Right Now". I counted it 8 times in the first 8 mins.
Very disapointing secret plan, no silver bullet as he lead us to believe.

Just like Obamacare and Stimulus get it passed before any body can read it

Same old same old.

The Admin for the past week and a half has been saying this speech wouldn't offer a silver bullet.

It was a decent speech and seemed to get a good amount of GOP applause.

The real measure of success here is if Obama can work with Republicans in Congress to actually get something passed. Considering many of the proposals he's trying to lead from the middle (again) which hasn't worked before as Boehner can't control his own house.

If *any* legislation is passed Obama will be able to call this a success. Republicans in the next election are going to start fearing an obstructionist label.

And here I was thinking jobs and the economy were the measure of success. WTF was I thinking?

It's because you're obsessing about Obama...

If there's collaboration and a bill the market will respond favorably.

why does anyone listen to this guy anymore?

if Obama walked through the door of your business or home with "A PLAN" to improve either or both...would you give him one penny??????

striperman36 09-09-2011 07:05 AM

BOTH PARTIES, are to blame

the only thing republicans want is bozo out of office in 2012. and the dems are caving into them.

Take your pick - Bozo, Slick Mitt or the cowboy from TX. that's what we got coming

None of the above have a plan to get this country on track. Nor does anyone in power in DC for that matter.

we don't matter it's all about being the Prez in 2012

maybe the mistake is looking to DC for a plan to get the country on track...maybe the solution isn't a plan in the form of a spending bill from DC...particularly one that will cost hundreds of billions more

I'm too Kenysian not too. I ain't spending anything unless I feel my future, at least some of it, has security. Without consumer confidence and spending the economy of the country isn't running above a low idle.
So what entity should replace the lost dollars not circulating in the economy making the engine run close to full throttle?

I don't see it coming from anywhere, innovation isn't going to change this overnight, there is only one place, and now that place has taken it's money off the table.

What he should have done two and a half years ago, when he
had CONTROL of the House and Senate, was work on a real solution
to jobs and the economy rather then throw$$$ at his stimulus plan
with his "shovel ready" jobs. Lick and a promise.

However that wasn't his agenda, Obamacare was, which should of
been way down his list in importance. His legacy for healthcare was
more important then the economy. Now suddenly the economy
needs "pass the bill right now." Why now and not before? His main
objective now is to get re-elected in 14 months and needs to have
unemploment drop to 7%. All political BS.
I can't wait for his next episode on how we will pay for this.

If you have a better plan than just throwing TURDS, let's hear it.

He doesn't; neither do Perry, Romney etc..

If this fails, Obama will lose. Period.

He presented something rooted in previous bills from both sides, rather than to continue to be seen as not leading. If I were him, I'd go to every R and D, including Cantor and Boehner, and say here is all the pork you asked for in your delegation and didn't get in the last couple of years, and you can have X,Y and Z now.

It isn't perfect, or a silver bullet, but as Bill said, what is the alternative?

Ya mean like he's smart?

Smart is over rated unless it's tempered with a lot of experience
and wisdom.

No matter how ya cut it, the man is a day late and a dollar short.

What a bunch of crap from all of you. Not one of you can tell me why this plan will SUCCEED. Not one. You're all preachin politics which is what the bafoons in washington are doing.
Bryan - if the plan is passed, it will fail. Why? Business (people who create jobs) cannot forecast 3-5 yrs out. The cant plan their taxes, sales, production, etc. No one will suddenly start growing as a result of this or any stimulus and govt. action. If I get more money in my paycheck, im putting it away for my kids education or retirement. The amount of $$$ per worker we are talking about amounts to a few extra beers a week. tax breaks to businesses is good, but its all temporary. You dont run a business on that.
This is not a partisan summary, its basic freakin facts, I dont care if this came from Obama or Reagan. This will not work. But there isnt anything Obama, Romney or anyone else can do.
When you think American ingenuity and production you think.....???
Until you can answer that question, we wont have a recovery. Period. I dont even see anything on the HORIZON!!!

So should they just sit back and do nothing?

Your company might not hire anyone or forecast on this alone, but my friend who has a small (5 employees) business (Metal refining) might decide to hire someone and expand his production if there is some incentive.

I've said on here already what I think should be done.

FIRST. CLOSE THE BORDERS.

SECOND. Announce in the streets. You got 48 hours to leave. DEPORT THE ILLEGALS. Round up the ones that stay behind and send them to chain gangs to clean Mansfield streets. Send the rest to Spence's house.

THIRD. All welfare recipients must work a minimum of 30 hours per week to receive benefits. Mandatory drug testing for recipients and positive is immediate loss of benefits.

Now... you've cleaned up all the illegals, there's now lower paying jobs for youth and early adults, Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks, Mcdonalds, BK, Landscapers, I could go on.

Peons means managerial positions. Bigger dollar earners. Middle Income jobs...

You've eliminated people off the welfare rolls. Now you got people to pick up the trash on the side of the roads. Which brings me to the next......

FIFTH. Cut govt departments now that you have people who will mow your lawn and pickup trash, prune this or that. You could cut Mass DOT alone down I bet HALF the size of what it is right now.

SIXTH. Eliminate perks and subsidies for quasi public utilities. Close tax loopholes.

Man I got friggin work to do. No time for typing this.

You get the idea Bill. I think it's all tied together. Without fixing one you can't fix the other. You can't fix the economy if 30% of your workforce is sending their money earned to Nicaragua, Ecuador, Brazil, Africa or more.
