PC Parts...

Anybody got any place they like to go to get their H/W for PC's. Looking to build a box to throw Linux on at home. Use to go to a place in Wilmington but can't seem to find them now.

ditto newegg.
Check out the new Asus M3A78-EM. I'm just about to grab one this week for an HTPC server upgrade...

The Dad Fisherman 07-15-2008 07:44 AM

That newegg looks like a winner.....looks to be reasonable on the prices too...Thanx gents

MrHunters 07-16-2008 06:20 AM

best online service around.

jim mullen 07-16-2008 10:33 AM

thanks for tip about newegg

protty31 07-17-2008 07:02 PM

There is no need to go elsewhere than newegg
They are without a doubt,the best:btu:

For those older geeks that remember the EggHead stores - that is now Newegg.com - probably the best place in service and one of the best if not the best in price...

Ken, I'm thinking HTPC / Home server as well, now gotta check out that board... You do yours yet?

Thanks,

John

Saw that too...

Not sure if I want htpc (mtyh), home server Win/Linux/FreeNAS, both :tooth:

Really hate to think I need to do a needs assessment and C.B.A. from home for home :wall:

The Dad Fisherman 07-22-2008 11:11 AM

I just googled what the hell you guys were talking about......yeah baby :humpty: Wife's not going to be happy with me getting back into the home PC builds.

Those htpc's look sick......

linuxmce has a interesting interface includes X10 and VOIP integration.
Not sold on it, WindowsMCE has free scheduling until 2013?
Need a better convert to dvd that what it has now.

So you going to hange out the htpc assessment and implementation shingle? Interesting option.

All from newegg btw

striperman36 07-23-2008 06:45 PM

totally sick gamer machine.
You need liquid cooling, btw

protty31 07-23-2008 08:14 PM

Yea, liquid would be awesome,Just too much more money
it would have added to the build, plus I haven't dabbled in that yet.
I'll try it in the future and thx. I love the way this thing looks.:lama:

striperman36 07-24-2008 09:06 AM

How high are you overclocking?

MrHunters 07-24-2008 08:01 PM

google beyondtv. easiest thing to set up for a htpc.

John you just brought back some memories. Heading into egghead and buying kingsquest on 5.25 floppies

I wondered if egghead was newegg. Same great customer service. I give them all my pc and gadget spending money. They usually come in lowest in price most of the time too.

protty31 07-25-2008 06:20 AM

Haven't felt the need to oc this machine.:spin:
