Grapenuts 08-01-2009 07:06 AM

Sounds like the same f-up group that thought up the com. boat buy back program...

better milage cars...right.....my 77 f-250 got 11 mpg...my new 05 gets 12...woopty di do.....BUT! I have less coffee stains on my shirts cause it rides so smoothly..:)

striperman36 08-01-2009 08:13 AM

Dealers are gettin ripped off. Still can't tow a boat with a Prius though.
Wish we could get more of these Euro diesels in the US.
60 mpg Volvo's

striperman36 08-01-2009 09:32 AM

Sorry, the US is the only country in the world where gasoline is the predominate consumer transportation fuel. It makes no sense at all.

Major transport business is all diesel, truck, train, construction all diesel, it hurts my head

Ludicrous summed it up nicely, Scott.

Raven 08-01-2009 11:42 AM

i looked into it....

and it was a complete JOKE

scottw 08-01-2009 12:14 PM

the dems are touting it as a HUGE SUCCESS...let's see, borrow a ton of money that you know someone else and even more likely, their children, will have to make the payments on and then advertise that you are giving it away for free and you suddenly find that you quickly run out of the borrowed give-away money(no way!) that someone else will have to make the payments on and THEN you immediately begin scrounging around for more borrowed money to give away...BRILLIANT!!! I can't believe they never thought of this before:rotf2: how about $45,000 to get rid of your crappy old inefficient home to move into a nice small efficient mobile home, we can just burn all of the old, large, inefficient homes to the ground and turn them back into open spaces for the skunks and raccoons and coyotes...think of all of the energy we'll save...

Fishpart 08-01-2009 07:01 PM

A little 1 billion dollar program BOTCHED by Congress. NOW prove to me how they will get the healthcare thing right... It's only about 4 THOUSAND times more money....

buckman 08-01-2009 08:36 PM

All cars now carry a Global Warming rating sticker. A 1 to 10 scale. We will all be driving little death traps before long, Welcome to the Obama years. You asked for change... now change you will get.

FYI one of the larger contributors to the green house effect now is the stuff they replaced freon with. What a shocker.

Ya, they can't even run a small simple 1 billion dollar rebate plan,
and they are going to put forth a new 1 TRILLION dollar health care plan over haul. :smash:

So if I have a clunker with a trade in value of 15K and the govmint gives me 4500 and the dealer matches it I have basically a 24K TRADE IN,right? So I buy a 15k Yaris, do I get a check?

buckman 08-03-2009 01:35 PM

This Clunker of a program will become permanant under this group of idiots.

striperman36 08-03-2009 02:03 PM

Nameless Toyota dealer on Aquidneck, told potential buyer he would have to chase the Febs for the 4500. The dealer refuses to do so. But will destroy the clunker at buyers expense.

striperman36 08-03-2009 06:24 PM

Use some of that TARP money that has been returned, or the high-mileage vehicle funding already available but not taken by the RustBelt car manufacturer's

striperman36 08-03-2009 06:39 PM

I have a 2-stroke, would they give me money towards buying a 4 stroke?

Fishpart 08-04-2009 01:22 PM

Good part of the program is that the car makers getting the profits from this program are MOSTLY OVERSEAS :wall:

So when banks say they are paying back TARP money, does Barack actually get it? Does it get reused?

Its recycled back into the Tarp program

justplugit 08-04-2009 07:57 PM

I'm waiting for a reel clumker program so i can get a Van Staal.

Joe 08-07-2009 08:15 AM

The dealership near me has about 50 clunkers parked in the back lots with no plates or prices on them.

buckman 08-12-2009 03:05 PM

It seems that dealers are no longer letting customers pick up their cars because the Feds are screwing up the 1 billion dollar program so bad.

Health care anyone?

YOUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK. :smash::smash:

Yes and the $4500 rebate is prolly taxable as income, like all other Gov't rebates.

Raven 08-25-2009 04:33 PM

I'll keep my clunker

thanks anyway :point: Gubbermint .... for Nuthin :wavey:

capecodder 08-31-2009 10:33 AM

Well I took advantage of this program, thanks to all of you for your contributions in future tax $$. Traded in my 97 4 Runner with 185K miles on it for a new Tacoma. Happy to take $3,500 from Uncle Sam, and no it is not taxable.

As a tax payer I hate this program, but I'll take it!!

Since I helped pay for your new ride I'll be expecting you to give me rides when needed, which isn't all that often. I usually only need rides late at night after drinking too much or when I need to carry something really messy in the car like a carcass.

And I'm sure Japan will take it too:fury:

buckman 09-01-2009 06:16 PM

So the program didn't help GM? Strange, I wonder why

striperman36 09-01-2009 06:19 PM
