Introducing Myself

Hi everyone. I've been a member for awhile and haven't introduced myself. I enjoy reading the forums and have learned a lot from replies to posts and advice given to those of us who are less experienced. I appreciate the feeling of community, camaraderie, and mutual respect among members. I also appreciate the sense of humor, particularly the friendly sarcasm, some members seem to have.

I grew up fishing from a boat with my dad along the CT/RI coast during the summers. I now live in the area with my family and fishing for stripers has become a passion, or addiction depending of who you talk to, in the last few years. I am just getting started fishing from shore as an alternative and want to explore spots along the RI and MA coastlines as time and a tight budget allows. That said, I will need some more advice on gear and will begin posting some questions.

The "bigfish" part of my member name is a description of myself rather than the size fish I catch. So if you see a tall guy fishing alone on the rocks or along the beach, it may be me and please feel free to say hello or give me some tips if I'm doing something wrong or look like an idiot. I know there are other "big" members of S-B and I hope you guys will give me your thoughts on where to get XL-Tall clothing, size 14 waders/boots, and maybe advice on having a custom surf rod built for me.

Sorry for the long introduction. I look forward to being a more active member of S-B and maybe meeting some of you in the future.

Welcome. Since you live in eastern CT I suggest you think about joining the CT Surfcasters Club if for nothing else, the Newsletter and the chance to go on the Club Trip to Cutty each September.

Meeting are in Madison- which is not too far but not too close either I suppose.

Thanks for the suggestion wader-dad. I will look into joining. Madison isn't too far away from me.
