Ants in my pants

Little things built another nest in the outlet for my pond and fried the GFCI again...

Any good ant repellent I can stash in there to keep them away? I did toss a few moth balls in the weatherproof box. We'll see if that works.

Jeff,

2 options that work..

on the toxic level
Termidor SC after you use this stuff anything else is a waste of money.

If you want to keep it "pet safe"
as long as the area stays dry you can use food grade diatomaceous earth.

I have both, I also have a dedicated sprayer just for toxic stuff... just need something to put the diatomaceous earth in.

gonna try this

I have tons of ants in my strawberries. I am going to try this tommorow:

1c Borax
2/3 c sugar
1c water

Dissolve in water and dip cotton balls in solution and place around the area you want to rid of ants. They go for the sugar and the borax kills them. (thats what it said on the internet, it must be true!)

I will let you know how it works.

Terro is great but I'm not trying to attract, trying to repel!

ants hate mint
grow it by the pond
i've hiked in the woods and seen it
growing by the acre in places...
there's about 50 different kinds of it
makes good tea

Sevin dust in a squeeze bottle. Squirt dust in cracks and holws. Ants pick it up walking through and poison themselves wken they clean up.

Borax & Terro both have the same ingredient to kill the ants.

I have done the Boric Acid and the D.E. trying to keep my yard as chemical free as possible but its getting rediculous. Both help but there are so many ants it's rediculous and these methods are not eradicating enough of them. I am seriously considering going the toxic route despite how I feel about pesticides.

i was workin on the Golf Course
the job was to cut up this fallen cottonwood tree
i fire up the chain saw and begin cutting away
as i am quite skilled with them
sawdust is hitting me and i paid no attention
until i started to get bit
it was chock full of nasty two /color ANTS
that were attacking the blade and ending up
down my T-shirt
soon i was running around like a mad man
stripping off my clothes right in Public
trying to stop the onslaught
and these two lady golfers
were laughing their butts off..... :hs:
i stopped at my underwear
so i wouldn't git fired....

take the time to watch this video by Paul Stamets on mushrooms
his research is going to change the world with mushrooms
these ones in particular feed on ants and grow out of their heads!
and of particular interest ALSO is how OYSTER mushrooms eat up spilled motor oil .... Very interesting!

are those gfi's enclosed in a glass box?

if not ...........those can be sealed shut

spence 07-01-2013 04:18 PM

It's in a weatherproof case, but it's not sealed. I use the outlet for other stuff so I'd like to keep it open.

I didn't cover the extra plug though, this would probably help a lot.
