TRAILER AXLE

My galvanized trailer is in good shape but my axle is on borrowed time. Why? Because it's not galvanized. Has anyone have any experience in changing just an axle. And if so where can you buy just an axle in the Massachusetts area. Thanks any or all.

It just took me this long to find out I spelled axle wrong. That should speak volumes for the Shrewsbury school system!

I've replaced trailer axels without much trouble in the past. Try Monahans marine for parts. Usually in stock.

Thank you. I'll be calling those places today. I'd rather spend a few hundred compared to $1500. Plus it's a good winter project for me. Thanks again.

I got mine at Monahans.

Also consider replacing the springs while your at it. Made a big
difference on mine.

UM save ya time and go to Marine USA in Worcester, they closer to you. They own American trailer and that is WHERE Monahan's gets their stuff....so eliminate the middle man. Ask for Rich. He's a good guy, sometimes a little tough to get a hold of but he will come through for you.

Salty...cool....

Thats good to know !!!!!

Thanks salty and all. I called and will be stopping in Marine USA next week to get it replaced. Quote was roughly $400 for them to install a new galvanized axle, springs and all the hardware. Leave the boat on the trailer, drop it off and pick it up at the end of the day. Way better than the $1499.00 I was quoted for a new one. Thanks again.
