Columbus Day Fishing Report.

Come on guys....isn't anyone out fishing this weekend? The board sure is quiet as far as catching fish goes.:sleeps: Lets hear some chatter out there.:chatter Slingah, Redlite, Tagger, Fisherwoman, Van, Moosenuckle, Sea Monkey, BasicPatrick....anybody, isn't anybody out there fishing:bc: someone please give me a fishing report before I lose my mind.:lossinit: I went out last night for a couple hours and got two keepers on Habs and #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^& needlefish. One about 35 inches on my second cast and another about an hour later about 31 inches, then the moon broke out of the cloud cover and shined down like a spotlight. Fish gone.:bounce: Nice to have a tight line though, soon it will be over so I plan on getting out as much as possible.:uhuh: Anyone else catching? Anyone...Buellar...anyone?

Big Vern 10-13-2003 08:47 AM

I think I found Redlite's fish on Friday...breifly...during the day. Then, the wind kicked up and they were gone. :( Did manage a 27#er out of a sweet blitz though.

Otherwise, it was too rough for the boat, and I didn't find any fish yesterday morning in Chatham, and only found mung outside Saturday night.

I think the Cape run will peak after the water settles down from the big storm that's forecast. And I'll be there.

Notaro 10-13-2003 08:48 AM

Nope, I'm going to catch anything today. My mom is still a control freak! The hell with her. I have to do my stupid homework, forget her.

Glassguy 10-13-2003 10:14 AM

Went out to a couple of my favorite back side beaches last night-MUNG,MUNG and more MUNG.

Going to try CC Bay tonight-

Notaro 10-13-2003 10:15 AM

good luck, dude. lemme know if u got anthing good. i like to hear reports.:D

rwilhelm 10-13-2003 10:19 AM

I went out this morning and got the big skunk. I think the NW winds made it difficult, I did not see any bait.

Moose Nuckle 10-13-2003 11:03 AM

Hey Big Fish,
I haven't fished in about a month. I have a ruptured disk in my lower back. Part of the rupture is hitting my spinal cord. The Doc wont let me fish. The boats been on the trailer for a month.:crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash:

Backbeach Jake 10-13-2003 11:32 AM

This AM mung like I've never seen before. A few brave souls were fighting the unholy mess with zip for luck.

chris L 10-13-2003 11:43 AM

listen to your mother . no homework no good job ! If I could do it all over again Id have listened to mine . oh wait I still dont listen but you should .

Fisherwoman 10-13-2003 12:40 PM

:p Hey Bigfish, sorry no reports from me just yet. Just got back from MV yesterday and spent the day today putting all the #^&#^&#^&#^& away. Been pretty beat up so need to give the body a couple of days rest. When you heading south, let me know and maybe we can hook up. Want to get the boat out this week but sounds like the wind is gonna suck.

As for MV Got some really nice Albies in the 8-9 lb range and 2 bones and a couple of bassies on the night tides but the fishing was definately way off this year. Did manage a womens weekly with a 18 1/2 lb bass and got the mystery prize for one of the bonito. For the house over the 3 weeks we managed to get 5 mystery prizes, 4 or 5 dailys, a few fly roders did well and Frank is still on the board for 2nd place grand slam. but have the fever bad to get into the bass and blues that are still around. Let me know whats up.

Hope everybody else is gettin into the fall run with a vengence!!!!!! :D :laughs:

Tagger 10-13-2003 01:06 PM

I didn't fish at all Columbus day weekend.. Duty calls...I owe them a break anyway..I'm back in action now...

BigFish 10-13-2003 03:17 PM

Went down to Pemberton Pier in Hull with my boys and a couple of Sabiki rigs. Boys caught some nice tinker macks which I proceeded to live line to no avail. Oddly enough, they were also jigging up small cod and even a half dozen black sea bass, real small like 3 inches long. Strange. Kids had a ball and so did I. Great weather.

NEXT2NUN 10-13-2003 04:29 PM

beachwalker 10-13-2003 05:46 PM

Out last night with good results. No huge, just consistent 10-20 lbers.

Back out in one hour. The end of a Northerly with a flood ?

It is quite a scene sometimes. Let's hope tonight is one of those sometimes :D

shore manic 10-13-2003 05:48 PM

i also think it's not going to be over soon!!! we're still a month behind here looking back over the last 2 years. we started late and hoping there feeding for the run late. went out of brant rock 2 weeks ago and it was like late august! stripers had em up into the rocks but it was the 1st week of oct.that usually happens much sooner.. i think in this area we're still behind a few!!

BigFish 10-13-2003 05:48 PM

Good luck BeachWalker, hope you hammer em'.:smash: :smash: :smash:

BigFish 10-13-2003 05:50 PM

Thanks Shore Manic, I have been telling people the same thing but they won't listen. I hope they put their fishing rods away and then hear about all the cows being taken in mid November.:uhuh:

beachwalker 10-13-2003 05:53 PM

Christ sakes we have had years where we were landing keepers in December.

This year started late, was a warm summer and Fall and now we swing into the best part of the year. Just keep some warm shortfinger gloves handy and dry.

Hate when my fingees get numb

:p

beachwalker 10-13-2003 05:55 PM

Oh, and thanks BF.

We usually hex ourselves if we talk up an outing and get skunko'd.

I ain't gonna get nothing tonight

shore manic 10-13-2003 06:04 PM

good luck!!!

beachwalker 10-13-2003 06:10 PM

20#er is a sweet fish. By crackee scuppa we wasn't gettin' anything over 20#'s 'til a few years back now.

Nantucket tackle tourney is done. A 40 +#er took it.

Anglers club got something going on until first week of November.

Sharpen up ya hooks folks. We need em to set good this time of year !

:D

I am off. I'll give a report in the am...........

shore manic 10-13-2003 06:17 PM

bud8fan 10-13-2003 07:49 PM

What a difference a day makes!!

Had to get out of N. Scituate early today to avoid the groves of people at the annual Scituate Art Festival. Yep! I live right in the middle of it!! Headed South! Tallied 120 miles on the trip odometer and wouldnt ya know not until my last stop did I get any action. A couple of blues a couple of mid 20" bass and one bass that has the rear treble of my polaris in its mouth!!! Split ring failure!!
I guess its time to go to 200# split rings??????:smash: :smash: :smash:

rizzo 10-13-2003 10:44 PM

Shore manic is obviously on to something... this year is running later than last. If you kept a fishing log and refer back, things are behind and have been behind since spring. Look at the size of the bait compared to last. Fishing reports are always good to hear but you can't beat going out there and fishing. I've had many nights where everyone hasn't had a fish all night and within your first couple of casts you're into a cow. According to them there was no fish, and if they know what they're doing maybe there was no catchable fish present at the time, but you never know when a nice fish will move in to feed. Right now that is anytime. I had my best day fishing last year when the water was 47 degrees, fish were as active as ever. You gotta put the time in no matter how fishless the night may seem.

shore manic 10-13-2003 11:07 PM

hopefully ?

those fish will move south in due time. gotta get to my fav. beach or the l$*%# and maybe rexham. gotta love your secrets!! like salty says i'll tell ya spots. i don't agree but he could be foolin. ya still have to know how and when to fish em'.hell i been watching and glassing and sitting and watching this certain spot for years. know there's big fish in it. but maybe the right day at the certain time i'll get the biggin hopefully cause i put my time in scouting the spot for 3 years now and know they are there... all i got to do is hook em'. blah..blah...blah.....

beachwalker 10-14-2003 07:10 AM

Two fish last night. Nothing special but it was a nice evening.

hq2 10-14-2003 08:13 AM

Westport harbor, no action. NW wind knocked the waves down
to zero; never seen it so calm there. Beautiful day:) , no fish:(
