Gloves
Has anyone found any gloves that they like for cold weather fishing?? Here's my wIsh list for fishing gloves:
1) Warm 2) Waterproof / windproof shell 3) tight fitting at the fingertips to keep touch sensitivity / control 4) draws moisture away from skin 5) Puncture proof |
Glacier Gloves (neoprene, w/ velcro wrist straps) fit most of the criteria you mention. However, I chop off a few finger tips where more dexterity is required (like tying knots, etc).

I just bought a pair, they are going to be here today, I hope. I have bee sechering for some warm gloves for a long time!! I have a medacial problem were my hands freeze in the winter!!
The Gloves I have found are for paddlers. Another guy on a different board told me of them and say they are great?? $36 total with shiping. http://www.noc.com/ss/wkglove.htm They are the 3rd pair down. |
also I found some glove linners to do just what you say, they wick away the mositure. put on first then the glove. I found them at Bannans in Weirdham.

Fishwee has it right. I like the Glacier Glove the best I have found..the other neo's are just too heavy and you can't move.
I prefer to not fish with gloves but on those nights where there is no other choice...these do the job ok. |
I just bought a pair of fleece water resistant gloves from EMS that convert from fingerless gloves to mittens. So far I like them but I have not gotten them wet yet.

#^^^^&s has great neoprene gloves for 7 bucks.. I love em.. If I had really thought about it I would have bought 2 pairs so I could switch em when one pair gets wet..

West Marine has short finger, neoprene sailing gloves that are exellent. I thinkthey were around $15. Keeps you warm enough.
Like last night. That was cold, man ! But no snow over here. 45 deg. and some rain showers. Please be a more "normal" winter, please. :( |

Thanks everyone - I just got off the phone with Glacier gloves - I bought the 821BK - They'll be here tomorrow. Nice folks - they included a free liner with the order.
I'll let you know how they work out - I'm planning an early am trip by boat Sunday morning Dave |
Bassmaster, are the linners for wicking the moister away from the inside of the glove or just for warmth??
I got mine today. I ordered XL as my hands are big. They fit skin tight. I don't know if I will have room for liners?? But i need them to be as warm as I can get them. Can anyone else answer this?? Should I send them back and get some thing bigger?? Or is tighter better?? Thanks |
