|

|
i dont see nuthing here, lights from the city
|
My daughter just told me her science teacher told her the northern lights would be visible tonight.....
|
I've seen them at Watch Hill in the past, about this time of year.
|
This is the night to see them guys, this am at 1am the LARGEST Coronal Mass Ejection (plasma gas explosion) came from the sun, took all of 19 hours for it to get here....g5 strength storm which is like a Typhoon hitting the Cape to us. Strongest storm possible. If you have a scanner listen to your 30-50 mhz channels and you have a chance at hearing signals from THOUSANDS of miles away. It charges the ionosphere so strong that you see the lights. We had brialliant RED about 1 hour ago....they will get MUCH clearer later tonite after midnight when there is less convectional air cooling which hampers seeing them.
If you want to see some REALLY cool video of just how BIG this thing was, go to www.spaceweather.com and see the soho satellite images. |
A cool night tonight will have the best viewing for So County which has a lot of "northern lights"
|
Just in from Great Point.
AURORA BOREALIS EXTRAORDINALIS ! Unbelievable colors. Purples, greens, reds, oranges ! 2 fish on eels. 34 & a 29. I guess I'll keep going out. At least the earth is beautiful ! ;) |
I guess I will take a ride to the beach after mid night and see what I might see??
I love stuff like this but being that I have worked nights for the last 20 years I have not seen much at night. |
tonite and tomorrow nite will be the best nites in the last 30 years to see them here in New England. This is a RARE phenomenon due to the fact we are at the actual low side of the 11 year sunspot cycle...these LARGE sunspots took alot of scientists by surprise. I'm a ham operator too so I watch stuff like this all the time....different levels of the ionosphere carry radio signals and when there is an aurora this big it's like a 500 mile striper blitz up and down the east coast :)
But I stayed in the shop and made plugs tonite :D |
Anyone who's about... take a look outside now and then right now...
Might catch some more! |
Awesome
Was handing out candy to the kids coming around for our Halloween night. Neighbor across the street yelled over "Hey Lee, Check The Sky Above Your House"
AURORA BOREALIS - BRIGHT Red and Organge. When kids and parents came up I said "I have a trick for you" check out the sky I painted red and orange. WOW, COOL, AWESOME, WEIRD. I gave them candy anyway. Sarge |
