Untwisting mono

My surf outfit is all ready to go for a test casting - only problem is the Big game 25# mono thats been on the reel for about 2 weeks is a little tangled up and twisted - is there any way I can untwist the mono? I heard of letting the line out in the surf without a lure attached will untwist it......does this work??

personally I would take it all off and start again fresh. The price of line is cheap if it might cause you a fish. Are you using a swivel? If you aren't , that's the problem .

a friend of mine gave me the reel it was beat up and it crunched when I reeled in, I opened it all up and cleaned it all out, soaked all metal in paint thinner, simple green soaked and scrubbed everything, then put it back together packing it with Penn reel lube and suber lube on the outside. Now it reels like new.....
The original like is still on there, could of been on for a month....but it is very clean, i felt it, no nicks or anything, just tangly.

I agree with NG. Go with new line.

My 2 cents says change the line. Go to a shop and ask them what is best for your application. Get rid of the old and in with the new. Also close the bail by hand and use a swivel. Jackie O

the bail wont close by hand on the 704Z - u have to turn the handle.
Thanks for all the help so far!:D
