Cod Tips

Just ran my boat the 130 KM's from Old Lyme CT to its new home in Cohasset, MA. I've fished the area for Stripers but have heard that the Cod have moved inshore and are hot right now. Can anybody offer any tips on some inshore Cod spots south of Boston and Rigging methods.

Hi MTC, yes the Cod are inshore. BC and I were out on the water today and hammered them. Got 8 nice keepers to 10 lbs and threw back about 20 shorts. Only picked up one dogfish today and caught a few Macks and live lined them while drifting and jiggin but no bass takers. We were going to come in and fish some structure inside the harbor but a nice little front came thru about 1:30 and #^&#^&#^&#^& hit the fan. Had water coming down big time. Was a nice wet ride in.

Anyway we were fishing over near Nahant on the north shore. We put in at Weymouth back river and did the run. Had Cod all morning on the outgoing tide then when the tide went slack the fish scattered.

We were using 14-17 oz jigs with pink/white and yellow/orange grubs for teasers. Just drop them to the bottom, do about 1 crank up and lift the jig and then let it bounce the bottom and lift and repeat till ya fill like you just hooked into a bucket of cement and its pullin backwards. We are also using 50 lb test Power Pro on the rods. Makes jiggin alot easer.!!!!!!!!
