Drying motor
I want to try building my own rods. Is this drying motor ok for me to start out with?...http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/te...rch&hasJS=true

You should decide on which kind of finish product your gonna use before deciding on the # RPM. The time a finish coat takes to dry will determine RPM's, some finish's set faster then others. If your finish sets fast then a higher RPM is recomended and visverser. I'll be experimenting this year too.

My friend used that motor it lasted about 8 rods.
To use that dryer you put elastics on the silver stud around the blank to another stud. Repeat It will center it's self but make sure the rubber bands are good and strong. If any of them break the finish will sag. |
Get the flexcoat drying motor. I like 18 RPM.

I like to use a fast drying motor,,,, about 1800rpm's

Lowes/Home depot rotissarie motor. $20.00 tops. Works fine.
