Well,

I most certainly will work on a few Bass this winter but we have just finished a carving of everyones most annoying hookup.

Private commision, didn't have a choice.

Believe me a Bass is next. Maybe even a study of the our summer brood. This one is Mahogany. Hands are pretty tired after that effort but it is a great all around carving wood.

It's a big one that is for sure. Roughly scaled it would be around a 20-25 lber. Customer wanted a very animate, active looking fish.

Did we get it right ?

wicked f-ing awsome!!!:D :D

InshoreAngler 11-18-2003 10:52 PM

:claps: :btu:

beachwalker 11-18-2003 11:12 PM

Thanks guys.

I realize that the fins are oversized to a certain degree but I do that because it adds width to the carving. This is going to hang in a private home and looks pretty nice when viewed from the nose or tail. The fish has been carved with a swimming action and the photo doesn't do it much justice.

Work is sometimes a lot of fun. Most times not..... :(

Clammer 11-19-2003 12:05 AM

i CAN,Y GET IT :( :(

You are gifted!
Your creation looks good enough to eat and would probably taste better than the real thing.

fishweewee 11-19-2003 07:55 AM

fishsmith 11-19-2003 10:11 AM

I would of looked better if carved by a Red Sox fan :D
Great work.

rwilhelm 11-19-2003 10:14 AM

Nice job!!

Steve K 11-19-2003 10:28 AM

Very impressive. You did a great job.

beachwalker 11-19-2003 10:40 AM

Actually Fishpart it was a collaborative effort. A Sox and a Yank !
Thanks for the kudos , though.

Jack Flandreau is the main carver here at the shop (mine) and he and I both completed this together. I shaped most of the fins (which are added) and he worked the body, etc.

All in all we are happy with the result and so is the customer. Off it goes this week :crying: but it will only inspire us to knock out a Striper over the next few weeks.

Thanks for all the feedback. Thought you mught enjoy it. I'll try and take a few better photos today.

:)

Fishpart 11-19-2003 10:41 AM

I ditched the glove. The Feds took it from me.

I don't feel sorry for that S.O.B. one bit.

rwilhelm 11-19-2003 11:32 AM

Fishpart you need Winzip to open it you can download it for free.

beachwalker 11-19-2003 11:38 AM

Ya sorry folks. I somehow messed up my Photoshop and can't figure out how to shrink it and then send it this way.

GREAT WORK !!!!!!!

beachwalker 11-19-2003 09:15 PM

I knew that it would evoke that response from you Clammer !

Sorry. Give us to the New Year (ish)

This fish could take your hand off if it wanted to. It's that big.

Got to weigh it and see what the Mahog-a-blue tips the scale at.

nightfighter 11-21-2003 01:10 PM

Since when you got Stop signs and power lines ova there?????

beachwalker 11-21-2003 01:18 PM

1995-96. They disconnected us from the local power plant and brought a cable over.

We have stop signs but we don't pay attention to them :D

Kind of like the Plover signs......
