Chatham Cod how far?
I'm not putting the boat away this year unless forced to by mother nature so some cod fishing is in order. How far (depth/distance) out of Chatham is a good starting point to get some fish this time of year?

3 to 4 miles seem to work for me!! From about now thur April right off the light house. I like to go from Ryders as that Nauset cut can be a BITC!!
|
Start at three sounds good to me I was thinking 8-10 but three to six is a breeze no pun intended :D now I just need the wind to slow down a little. Maco, Ryders is my second address most of the year, real close to home.

Great !! I use to have a morring there. But I went from a 25 to a 20 footer, for ease of trailing.
I fish the Vinyard almost all the time now. But I like Chatam in the Fall. But it has not been that good the last to falls. Love to Cod fish out of there!! I go off shore about 2 times a year now. But they have to be perfect days!! I go about 20 miles out during the summer. Nothing like the whales, Blue sharks, Schools of Mac's, Cod, and My name sake the Maco, I got one about 7 feet long about 8 years ago and have had the name ever since. Well Good luck out there! |
cod
I would agree that is where I catch all my cod
#15 and #20 pounders are not uncommon |
