I have just the place to fish it up on the Essex River, 3AM, 2 hours before low tide. Only 5 more months.... Nice slow dead drift with a floating line.... Mmmmmm..... |

PUMPKINHEAD FLATWING: This one is tied about 16" long.
Inspired by the colors on my plate on Thanksgiving dinner. Hook: Eagle Claw 254 or 253, 6/0 Thread: Orange Platform: Light cream bucktail Pillow: Cream dubbing Support: Wide natural grizzly neck hackle, curve side up. Tail: First, 3 Tan saddles/2 pearl Flash, second, light brown saddle/2 pearl Flash, third, pumpkin saddle/copper Flash, fourth, wine red, fifth, chartreuse saddle/2 red Flash, sixth, medium gray saddle/silver flash, seventh, eighth, silver doctor blue saddle/blue flash, ninth, olive saddle/gold Flash, tenth, pink saddle, eleventh, copper saddle, twelfth, cream saddle. Body: Gold Mylar braid Collar: Cream bucktail on bottom and amber bucktail on sides Wing: Brownish olive bucktail Cheek: 3 hairs each of burgundy, turquoise, orange, yellow, and chartreuse bucktail, followed by red orange Golden Pheasant flank feather Topping: 7 long strands of peacock herl, followed by orange/yellow badger saddle (short) Eyes: Jungle cock |
