Saltwater Jock Scott
1 Attachment(s)
I have always been fascinated by the old traditional full dress salmon flies. Back in the fall of 2001, I tied several interpretations of them converting the patterns to large saltwater flies. The Jock Scott has become one of my favorite night time flies.

Scott flies
I am not familiar with Steelie flies, but I do like that one. Many similarities to the current flat wing Ken Abraemes flies. We all know he was not the first to tie those, but is the most recent/current person to repopularize them. What have you caught on the pattern in the picture? I would like to have the directions to see if I could manage one. Thanks, Swimmer.

Jock Scott Dressing
Swimmer, Here's the dressing for the Jock Scott. Ken ABrames Flatwings were the inspiratoin for the conversion. in his books, Joseph Bates talks quite a bit about the older salmon/landlocked salmon flatwings tied during the time when Carrie Stevens tied. As I recall, they were tied at the head of a long shanked hook and used for trolling.

Saltydog. Very nice fly! It looks like it would be a great wounded bunker fly. Can you post the pattern? I especially like the way the white collar veils the red tail. Are there two colors on the body?
