Airbrush compressor questoin
I was given and airbrush and compressor. Free is good! The compressor is only rated to 30 lbs. Do I need to thin the Createx paints?
|
No, 30#s is fine
|
Thanks!

I typically spray createx at #. Some of the pearl colors you might need to kick it up a tad. The createx are designed to be airbrushed as is. If they thicken a little, add a couple of drops of water to thin it. Should be the consistance of milk to spray.

Shuld be good nuff, but if it can't keep 30 psi up for volume then it won't work well. I've found some colors need up to 45 psi to squirt properly, and if you do thin it, use Liquitex airbrush medium or the Createx medium, don't use water as it takes away from the adhesion of the paint.

Thanks Jigman and #^^^^^^^^^^^&! I'm going to owe you all plugs for all the helpful advice given here at this site. SB, I sure looked funny swimmimg your plugs the other day in sub zero temperatures. Wish I had had a camera! Came out of the water and icecicles formed from the hooks and body!!!! BTW: They swam great! Didn't complain about the cold once! :-)

Wait til you see the new poppers next week

Is one color going to be "Loli"pop?
|
I think the cfm would be a more important factor rather then psi.
|
I think that's what I was trying to say mr Slip

Salty,
Good tip on Createx medium! If I use water it does not stick to good. - - -SK |
I've been spraying createx with 20 psi or so and have not had any problems. Also, I haven't had to thin it at all.

One more thouht,if it doesn't have a moisture trap get one before you start spraying.I should have listened to BASSMASTER'S suggestion about that and didn't. :smash:
|
I dont have a water trap... does that explain why I sometimes get spattering??
|
YA, when BM speaks ya gotta listen ! From what i understand, condensation forms in the the tank from temp changes. From my school of "learn the hardway",it spits out of the nozzle causing splatter and large droplets just before your done spraying.
