Whats your favorite chum?
WHat do you guys use when your chumming? I like to use lobster bodies crushed up mixed withsome vegtable oil, ive also had great luck grinding up shrimp shells with some vegetable oil. The fluke really seem to like the lobster bodies. I ussally just dump a bucket of lobster over the side where im fishing, then take another bucket with holes, fill it with lob bodies and hang it in the water where i fish.

Never chummed for fluke... use lobster bodies and whatever else (clam shells, left over crab bits) when blackfishing....

I grind my own special concoction in my power grinder, then freeze 1 gallon bags of it and use em' as needed..
Its not that special actually, its macks, pogie, herring and whatever else I have left over in various combinations. |
Van, me too;). Instead of bags I froze detergent bottles, just before heading out I drill inch and a half holes all over the bottles, easier to throw off the side, less mess. Still gota work on my presentation though.
So far my favorivte in mussles. I freeze a 5gal bucket at a time. Take 1/3 of frozen mussels in a 5 gal bucket and crush with a 2x4 and pack into bags or containers. If you don't freeze them first you loose alot juice and makes packing unconsistant and alot messier too. |
It depends what I'm fishing for. Scup chum is a lot different from shark chum, which is a lot different from flounder chum.

Herring is great chum Works for everything up here.

I gring Mac's Cod racks Fluke Racks Stripper Racks wehat ever I have. I also like to put in 1 gal jugs and freeze.
Goose I took a 1/2 steel tube and put a wood handle on it. Then I cut the other end on a angle and file sharp. Then when on boat I drive it into the side of bottle with hand. Works great!! Then if you don't use all your bottles you can bring home and refreeze. |
