IGFA/Boga grip

Anyone here know how to go about sending a boga grip to the IGFA to get certified.

from the IGFA website:

IGFA CERTIFIED SCALES PROGRAM

IGFA offers a great service to its members- scale certification. IGFA will certify small handheld scales for members who ship them to IGFA headquarters.

Most handheld scales have a maximum capacity of 100 pounds or less. IGFA will test these scales using certified weights and send them back to the member with an official report on the test results. The certifications are good for one year from the date of the test.

Since all world record catches must be weighed on scales that are certified accurate, it is sometimes difficult in remote areas to meet this requirement. For this reason, more and more anglers are taking along their own certified scales when fishing in remote areas. Carrying a certified scale makes it possible to weigh and release a catch and still submit it for a world record, provided all other requirements are met. This IGFA service makes it easier for members to find a source for getting their scales certified.

Members wishing to take advantage of this service should ship their scale to IGFA headquarters. There is a charge of $15 per scale, including postage. Major credit cards are acceptable. Scales will be tested and returned with an inspection report promptly.

One thing to remember...you need to weigh the fish on land or a stationary platform for it to count. You can't weigh it on a boat that is afloat. (boat motions will effect the reading)

Yeah

Boat fish dont count anyways:laughs:

Wouldn't you also need photographs of the catch if you weigh it on your own scale and release it??? Just wondering because you could weigh an anvil for petes sake and turn it in and without a photo, who would know????

Mr. Sandman 02-22-2004 02:42 PM

I think you need photos and a witness too.

BigFish 02-22-2004 02:46 PM

Sandman....long time, no see! How you been? Nice meeting you last evening, the pleasure was all mine.

I thought that might be the case Sandman, just wanted to check. Must need measurements also, length, girth, etc. Thanks.

Mr. Sandman 02-22-2004 02:48 PM

You are a big dude big fish!:D

fishweewee 02-22-2004 07:20 PM

I think you need to kill the fish for IGFA to consider it as a potential class record. This is implied by the rules that state that you have to retain the fish for a certain period of time in case IGFA wants to inspect it.

Not terribly conducive to catch and release.

I also was under that impression FWW.:rocketem:

I hope Im not turning the topic here, but since I saw Boga grip, I was wondering, do they make cases for the grips? I just got the 30lb one and Im trying to think of something better than have this thing hanging from my belt.

Any ideas for a homemade case or something? Thanks!
