Wanted: Opinions on the Daiwa Emblem XT

I am thinking of buying a Daiwa Emblem XT for my friends to use when they go fishing with me. What do you think of these reels? If you own one, would you buy one again?

Thanks.

Nice reels for casting. I like them.

Some thoughts from my own experience using a 5500 XA.

1) They don't like to be dunked in water/sand. The impregnated drag washers are extremely soft and the drag won't work properly if you're not careful.

2) Gear ratio is a bit high, so you need to pay attention as to how you fight the fish.

3) Rotor is made of very fragile plastic. Take care not to drop it unncessarily on the rocks.

a good caster.. less quality than a penn. Good real for budget mined person. Buy a V/S and make a statement about the quality of your freinds!! You can buy one yours on ebay for under 75.00 good luck to you and your friends this year fishing.;)

I'm pretty curious when it comes to fishing tackle - I'm always willing to try stuff out for myself...unless the prevailing sentiment is strongly negative and for a good reason.

If I find I don't like it or need it...I swap it for something else.

I haven't really found a reel that I've hated...there's a lot of good stuff out there.

I believe strongly in using the right tool for the right job, if you have the means. Thus, the type of fishing that I like to do sort of limits what I use now.

I kinda miss that reel Bruce. Need a spinner with a long cast spool. Would have been pissa on the rocks if it could withstand being dunked...
