Don't know if this qualifies as a movie, but Band Of Brothers is by far the best I've seen.
Second is Saving Private Ryan. The first 15 minutes alone of the D-Day landing are more realistic than any war movie before. |
George C Scott? if thats not it I haven't a clue

Gary Cooper TDF!

All my favorites have already been mentioned (Saving Private Ryan, Apocalypse Now, Platoon) so I will add a few more:
The Enemy Below (Robert Mitchum) Dr. Strangelove (George C. Scott, Peter Sellers, etc.) Sahara (with Bogart, although the remake with Jim Belushi was OK) Caine Mutiny (Bogart again - "it was the strawberries") Hell is for Heroes (McQueen) In Harm's Way (John Wayne, Kirk Douglas) Schindler's List (Liam Neeson) Von Ryan's Express (Sinatra) Go Tell the Spartans (a little known flick with Burt Lancaster that has some interesting insight into the very beginning of Vietnam, during the "advisors" phase) The Beast (No, not the one about the giant squid! This is another hard to find flick that tells the story about a Russian tank that gets lost during their occupation of Afghanistan. Will give you an idea about why it is so hard to catch Osama) Finally - Does Casablanca count? |
The War of the Roses.
:hihi: Apocalypse Now Papillon Saving Private Ryan The Deer Hunter The Great Escape |
