Finnish style swimmers: Direct tie/snap

I'm just looking for some opionions on fishing rebel/yo-zuri/bomber type plugs. I have found that by removing the split ring at the nose an using a 30 or 50 pound sampro cross lock snap (depending on plug size) that the swimming action of the plug is not significantly different that tieing direct. My question is, do you guys think that the tieing direct will outfish this method because there is less junk in front of the plug for fish to notice or does it not matter. Thanks for you input and sorry if this has been covered before. - Josh

I used to tie bombers direct but then I switched to a duolock snap. I have not noticed a change in catching less since switching and I find it a lot easier when I want to change plugs frequently.
