You Are Stranded On An Island.......

off the striper coast of course, and you are the only one on the entire blasted sand spit!!!! You washed up on shore from a sinking boat and you have only the clothes on your back, a fishing rod of your choice (you may list it complete with line and reel of choice) however the only other thing that washed up with you is "one" item to fish from that rod to catch your food (striper of course)! What would you choose it to be???? A lure (name it).....live bait (only one though).....or a type of chunk bait (name it).

I would choose a "Smitty" built 1083 Lami, spinning with a Penn Slammer full of 15 pound mono and I would be fishing a 1 ounce Gibbs pencil popper to catch my quarry!:btu: :uhuh:

OK...your turn!

MAC 03-01-2004 08:30 PM

white bucktail for the lure

BigFish 03-01-2004 08:32 PM

Interesting Newell Guy.....very interesting!

missing link 03-01-2004 08:38 PM

wonderbread pikie for lure ( because i dont have one )

for a rod( not really into crazy custom rods ) BUT if i have to pick one it would be 7ft 1 peice nice custom with a perdy butt rap ( Orange and gold :) ) penn 6500 reel

Nebe 03-01-2004 08:39 PM

for me it would be a 1084 and a 704z with 50lb power pro.. and a box full of yozuri darters:D

BigFish 03-01-2004 08:42 PM

Whoa there Eben....just (one) Yozuri darter for you young man!:smash:

Mr. Sandman 03-01-2004 08:52 PM

YEP! white bucktail (with porkrind)...the most versitle lure known to mankind, will catch anything and stands up....the military use to include them in their survival pack.

While it is not the most productive, that is the "one " I would choose. If I had to pick one reel to last me forever...hmmmI would pick the one with the fewest moving parts...probably a Zebco/VS 250 and the rod...lami triflex (tough yet stiff) and for line I would like power pro 50#....I would also like a bulk spool of florocarbon to wash up as well and a aquaskinz with my bogogrip :)

BigFish 03-01-2004 08:54 PM

Thats what I am looking for Sandman.....good name for this thread too!:bl:

Backbeach Jake 03-01-2004 09:15 PM

My 704z, my 10' ugly stik ( both unbreakable) 50 #PP White smilin' bill sweetened with a white power grub. and a cooler ful of beer.

Slipknot 03-01-2004 10:14 PM

1087 Rainshadow
6500 Nautil
white bucktail jig would be my first choice but since I don't know if this island has any river inlet or what it's structure is, maybe I would go with an Old John needlefish plug:)
14 lb fireline with 40 lb leader to a Breakaway clip

Swimmer 03-01-2004 10:23 PM

You are stranded on an island...

With the fish on girls from ESPN!:D  :D

macojoe 03-01-2004 10:41 PM

Goose 03-01-2004 10:52 PM

I'd have ta go with an hawian at pizzaHut...it is an island right:hee: oooor, 1088 spinner and a megabait.

Canalman 03-01-2004 11:03 PM

I'll stick with my Bud8Fan 1088, stradic 6000 and a wonderbread bomber.

hooked 03-01-2004 11:18 PM

My 10' St Croix with a 704z loaded w 50# power pro with a yellow/white Habs 2 oz needle (w/ a ray's teaser).

(that's my favorite while not stranded, so why not...)

Joey G 03-01-2004 11:21 PM

1204 Lami, Stradic 6000 with 30lb Power Pro and I would be fishing A Mambo Minnow 7inch..................

BasicPatrick 03-02-2004 01:26 AM

1 White bucktail

blackeye 03-02-2004 08:57 AM

704 on the 10 1/2 lami #50 power pro and a black mambo

Van 03-02-2004 02:16 PM

Are you sure island is not inhabited by a lonely tribe of beautiful amazon supermodels??

Hmmm, what rod, what rod!!!!!!!!!!think, think.....

Jimbo 03-02-2004 02:47 PM

OK, I don't know where any of you came ashore, but on the Striper Coast where I washed up with Molly Simms, in my fantasy, oops, I mean shipwreck scenario, we did a thorough search and there are no other super models around. All I was able to salvage was a cool looking 9 foot Jarvis Walker rod, my Penn GS555 and one of Surfster's awesome squid imitations, however I will probably tie up a few jig patterns using locks of Molly's blond hair and large thorns spliced and tied up as hooks. Catching fish should be no problem, however I am hoping the abundant supply of oysters and rose hips near our driftwood lean-to back in the dunes will provide me an adequate supply of vitamin E, because she's already looking very, very lonely.

mrmacey 03-02-2004 03:41 PM

Stradic 6000

Custom budfan8 Lami and a WHITE PEARL SMACKIT

beachwalker 03-02-2004 03:57 PM

Bigfish,

Sounds like my life story

We HAVE tackle shops out here ! :D

DelSamAdams327 03-02-2004 07:31 PM

I would have a 11 1/2 foot rod with a VS250 spooled with 20 lbs yoziri hybrid, and a A-Salt bomber Mother of Pearl color.

JohnR 03-03-2004 01:18 PM

I would show Renee Zellweger (this is a fantasy, right) how to fish on my 1087 Batson (can you say durable) with a 704 and a 1.0 ounce white bucktail jig....

denport 03-03-2004 10:40 PM

I would hope to be washed up on the invisible island 20 miles SSE of Chatham with a custom self made 9' glass rod with the Stella 20000 lined with 50# power pro. Hanging from the end I would hope to find a nice little Jet lathe and tools. Or a 14' cast net. But since that would be cheating... I would have to say a sibuki{sp}rig for continued bait collection.

And as you look up you see a pair of dark blotches tumbling from the underbelly of an F-15...

Anyone know if they still expend ordnance their or just fly around it?

beachwalker 03-04-2004 12:34 AM
