What Line? What Hooks?

Hi All,

I use to do a lot of Cod or Flounder fishing as a kid. I was not allowed on the Striper trips. Now it's my boat!

I use Dacron on my Bottom fishing rods with just purchased packs of no name hooks from a sports store.

What is a good line for Stripers?
Troll/chunk/cast Good all around line?

Also, Thre are so many brands of hooks? Does it make a big difference?

I need to get set to show my Dad,, He should have been brining me as a kid,, I get the Big Fish!

As for chunking, 20 lbs or 30 lbs big game clear mono on your reel(spinning or conventional) w/ a swivel barrel and a 2-3 ft of a 40-60 lbs fluro or mono leader w/ a treble, gami octopus circle 2-7/0, octopus hook 5/0-7/0, or a circle hook from 4/0-6/0. I also use fireline and spiderwire stealth for jigging. Really, it is up to you. Just make your own choice and see which one of those brands you want to use.

I use gamakastu because of its sharpness and quality. And less density. Eagle claws are too bulky for me. I stopped using them.
