Jigging more bass than most

I've been jigging (the canal) for a few years now but I would like any insight or tips that can make those long nights more productive, don't get me wrong, I usually pull at least 15-20 keepers a week out of (the canal) but any info can be helpful

Canalratt1 03-08-2004 05:12 PM

If you can catch that many you don't need any help.

mikecc 03-08-2004 05:33 PM

Ask Jim Powers I'm sure he will let you tag along.:D

JPowers 03-08-2004 05:37 PM

:D

Yo, Canaljigger. Keep mentioning ( ?) on line and you can ask the 50 guys that will be standing next to ya.

Mike P 03-08-2004 05:46 PM

As well as the 20 guys trolling wire between you and the end of your cast :af:

JPowers 03-08-2004 05:48 PM

And maybe someone could put a bunch of lobster pots out there to help out.

capesams 03-08-2004 05:51 PM

tlapinski 03-08-2004 05:53 PM

anyone have any tips on how to fish watch hill? i usually pull a good 25 keepers a week out of there, but i want to make my nights more productive. :smash:

oh yeah, i'll add this to my places to try this season........ :laughs:

Canalman 03-08-2004 05:57 PM

Would that be an additional 50 to the 50 that are usually there? 15-20 keepers a week in that one spot?? WOWSA!

goosefish 03-08-2004 06:08 PM

Canaljigger---when I first started posting I 'cooked a spot' too. Shake it off, but don't do it again. After you've navigated the site a little you'll figure out who fishes in the places that you like to fish; then simply send a PM.

ThrowingTimber 03-08-2004 06:09 PM

Someone remind me to post pics and an aerial map of a sunken jetty I fish and pull nice fish at. :p

canaljigger 03-08-2004 06:12 PM

sorry to all you fellow canal guys, i guess i wasn't thinking, just dont tell bob at redtops he'll never fish w/me again

mrmacey 03-08-2004 06:14 PM

I like to see who would win the tug of war if JPowers snagged one of those 50 lb wire lines with his 65 lb braid and a locked drag. I know I would help him keep from getting pulled in, and maybe the 2 of us could change the course of the boat enough that they would fish elsewhere.

Goose 03-08-2004 10:21 PM

T.Lap...I'm pretty sure it not there,,,100% shore now that I think of it.

CJ...so much for fishin with Bob.

Slipknot 03-08-2004 10:24 PM

Canaljigger, welcome to the site and what kind of equipment do you jig with? Line? rod? reel? what weight do you toss? Do you fish at night?

Crafty Angler 03-08-2004 10:29 PM

Man, I gotta get working on that Craftco Internet Spot Blocker software...

Goose 03-08-2004 10:31 PM

LMAO....thats a good one Crafty!

likwid 03-08-2004 10:31 PM

Flip Thomas may be old, but he'd have your head if he knew you babbled about his spot. ;)

JPowers 03-09-2004 09:19 AM

canaljigger,

No worries. If you're @ (?) that often, most of us probably recognize you by sight . It'd be difficult to burn (?) at this late date anyway. The place is highly visible ( campers) - pull a schoolie and guys materialize outta nowhere. Goes with the territory. It's a shame the place is so damn crowded because I think it is one of the best places on Cape to see the sun come up.

Canalratt1 03-09-2004 12:08 PM

Yah Pips is always very crowded. I rarely fish there but go there to talk with the guys after I'm done for the morning. Mentioning specific spots on the web is not a good idea. There are tons of lurkers out there that will never post. Many of us will e-mail each other on spots and techniches but don't post it for all to see. A newcomer coming on to strong is a turnoff.

boy did I learn that the hard way! :smash: :D

blackeye 03-09-2004 05:09 PM

where is pip's rip? is this a secret honey hole only frequented by those in the (wink wink) know?
must be a dynamite spot for you guys to be jumping all over a new guy like that. somebody? anybody?

Slipknot 03-09-2004 05:37 PM

don't worry about it blackeye, the place only gives up schoolies and occasional keepers. It's a coffee shop and a place to use binoculars and trip over thousands of yards of line caught in the rocks, and it doesn't really matter where it is or isn't at.

JPowers 03-09-2004 05:43 PM

It's a place where your fishing buddies rescue the rod you left behind because you caught a 30#er and left in a hurry.

:laughs:
