Wood Useage
I have a dumb question. I have not been building long or much lately but while admiring plugs by Habs Tattoo and Salty at the rissa show I noticed that the old standbys (gibbs) were made of some kinda pine pine while others in the same styles by other peolpe were made from Maple or birch or AYC. Is there a reason or will they all work the same?

Pine is cheaper, plain and simple. The other makers you mentioned are more concerned with using the best wood for an individual plug style to maximize performance.

sugar pine is far more money then ayc or cedar. try pricing some 8/4" thick.

Sugar Pine definately would be. What kind of Pine does Gibbs use?
I'll preface my initial comment with, at least that's what I would think! -spence |
